I've tried everything I can think of to allow my USB Midi keyboard to drive the DXi synth selected in the Audio/Midi config dialog box, but it only works while BIAB is playing a song. As soon as the song ends, the synth appears to be shut down, with no audio output.
I'm just trying to do what I would do with a hardware synth driven by my Midi keyboard's MIDI-OUT so I can practice some stuff before I start to record or play along. Seems like it should be really simple to let the DXi host app (contained within BIAB) keep accepting midi input and generating audio output.
I suppose BIAB has this behavior since a software synth consumes CPU cycles and in general it is best not to run the synth when no output is desired. However, I've even failed creating a single infinite-loop silent song so I can start it and then play the keyboard. Any suggestions?

You may wanna try this on a hunch here:
Biab will allow you to have 2 instances of the program open. Not sure how it works with Asio though or a DXi at the same time, worth a try. Open the 2nd one and select blank 4/4 style and loop it. See if it will allow you to play your keyboard through the 2nd one while practicing over the 1st open Biab program?

Yes, I do it all the time using ASIO Sound Drivers, a DXi synth and that "ASIO Always On" checked.
UNcheck the "Route MIDI Thru" as well, so that you are sure to be playing through the DXi synth and not thru whatever non-DXi synth is highlighted in the window above.
Also a good idea to leave the dropdown set to "Good" or "Better" as "Best" can often hang things up and quite honestly I hear no sonic difference.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
