As usual, great lyrics, and the music and your voice fit the song well.

You didn't ask for any criticism, so I'll apologize in advance if I'm overstepping here. But you might consider dropping the harmonica on the verses. It makes them seem a bit busy, and doesn't seem to add much. Plus, there's less change when it comes in on the chorus, where it fits very well. Just a thought.

Thanks for posting!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

David, thanks for listening and I do appreciate your comments. This song is currently being re-worked to a shorter more consise version. It will also be performed with another singer, Tammy Carlson. The name has changed as well to "Running Out Of Reasons". So a lot of movement for this one song

Thanks - I like the suggestions regarding the harmonica - the new mix is close to what you have described. I'll post it here over the next day or so.

If you don't mind a bit of a digression here...

When I was a kid, there were these rides in front of the grocery stores - a rocket, train or fire engine... That kind of stuff. And my brothers and I would beg our parents to let us ride on them. My recollection was that they were always reluctant, but I'm sure I'm only remembering my disappointments. The rides were always too short, and we'd immediately be saying "Again!"

The rocket ride was always my favorite - it was shaped like the one in the one in the "Huckleberry Hound Lands on the Moon" ViewMaster reel (which just happens to be on my desk right now because my kids were going through the reels the other day):

I knew the ride wouldn't really head out to space, but in the back of my mind, I still hoped for some small, improbable chance that it just might happen. And the imagery of that fantasy was strong and vibrant - I could picture the rocket barreling through the clouds, and into the upper stratosphere.

When my own kids were younger - not that long ago! - I tried to make time for them to go on those ride when they asked, It really is true that they grow up fast.

Anyway, the other week I was taking my teenage son around town, and we passed by the K-Mart we used to shop at when I was a kid. I remarked how the rides were gone, and told him the part that sucked about becoming an adult was how your imagination - and being open to something impossible - withered away.

To the point: when I read the title "Rusted Rocketship", it really resonated with me. It's just a throw-away line, which is why I assume you've changed the title.

Now, I'm not suggesting that you write any of this as a song. (I can write my own damn song, thank you very much. Or apparently, I can't. )

I'm just suggesting you might be another song hiding in that title.

David, cool story. I remember those rides as well.

The rusted rocketship in my song represents my first car - an old rusted out VW Beetle from the 60's, which I thought was the greatest thing in the world and could take me anywhere - ah, youth!

Now go write that song!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
