Hi,
I have seen this on a few forums. You can thank someone for their help without having to post a thanks and get the whole thread moved to the top of the board again.
Thought it might be a good idea if implemented on here.

If you're too lazy to type the word "thanks", then you don't really mean it. Or ....., you don't deserve the help. And if you do bother to say thanks, it should be bumped to the top. That way the forum "regulars" will see that you at least acknowledged their help. We had someone join the forum last year who treated the "regulars" as paid tech support. Each question on the same subject was given a new post and knocked someone elses topic off the front page. At one point, ... he had 80% of the front page. A "bump" by saying thanks on a front page topic doesn't do that. He rarely, if ever, said thanks. He stopped getting many replies. I also haven't seen him around in awhile. Thanks. (See, saying "Thanks" wasn't so hard. I honestly can't imagine not formally thanking someone for their help.)

Not so much for the original poster, but for all other folks who enjoyed the posting (e.g. off topic forum) and or found the message helpful for themselfes without having to bump it by adding a new message.

Thanks button just encourages lazieness IMO I'm sure the admin team have much more important things to do than programme in an extra button which is not needed at all

Furry,
+1.
It's kinda like holding the door open for someone, and having them walk by you as if you weren't there. Only much worse.

Thanks for replies. Probably I was looking at this, from the point of view that when someone just does a post just to say thanks I personally feel its a kinda selfish thing for me to do as the thread and post is now moved to the top of the forum again, and is stealing a place from some other user who may have a more urgent problem. But its no big deal and maybe is suited to very busy forum like http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/the thanks button only appears if you are signed in. well anyways just in case I ever forget to say thanks to anyone who helps me, just let me say, thanks a million musiclover

I remember seeing this addition made to a forum here in the UK shoppingtelly.com Over 10,000, members. I thought it always looked soooooooo cheap & tacky to have this ' thanks' sign up every so often. I can see where you're coming from though. I havn't added it it to my own forum either.

The thanks button is located next to the "make me sound like Elvis" button. Trax

Speaking of, here is a picture of me at the Sun Records Studio in Memphis, where we went this past weekend. The microphone is supposed to be the one that all the great Sun stars sung into, and was donated to the museum by Sam Phillips before he past away. I certainly don't sing like Elvis, or look like him, but I do share the same birthdate as him. Thank ya, thank ya verruh much!!

You have to be kidding Eddie . . . I had to do a double take just to make sure it wasn't Elvis at that mic!
Hope you had fun,

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
