I have a song that I have entered in straight format with no repeats. I am using a basic style with a and b using a on the chorus and b on the bridge each time I come to them. I would like to switch the real track soloist every 8 bars or 16 bars or so, so I'me getting more variety like the songs on the radio do. (Mostly country here). How do I do this.

Dell 610 dual Monitor, win 7-10, Sonar Plat, ProTools 10 & 11, Reaper 4, BIAB/real Band 2022, Easy Drummer, Superior Drummer, Kontact Essentials, Personnel Orchestra, Korg Legacy Analog & Digital

Earl, certainly you know how to use F5 to do this?

Or have you been working in ProTools to much?

You've identified the problem. While taking the college course in ProTools I totally ignored BIAB. Now trying to get back with it and using all of the tools I have like the rest of the heavyweights here

Earl, PT Le and BIAB are a super One - Two punch. Use them in combination each doing what each does best.

So was F5 what you were looking for?

Yep, that is what I was looking for. I do notice however that when I change the real track at bar 5 the mixer never changes when I get to bar 5. This means I will have to remember what the original tracks sound was or where I put everything.

I must thank you for your patience here. I have been playing with MIDI, and BIAB for years and getting no where. About a year ago I decided that being retired meant I now had enough time to actually learn how to use my toys. The college course in ProTools really got me started and allowed me to finally nail in some of the basic concepts of how to use the virtual instruments and MIDI. I have added some needed pieces of equipment like an audio interface and some additional software like exdrummmer that make my work easier and better.

I find it interesting that I have an associates degree in IT (majoring in programming) and still have so much trouble doing what some of the kids do without thought. I have had versions of Photoshop since version 6 and now have CS4 and I still have to look up the process on how to make the background of a photo transparent every time I want to do it. I sometimes think I must be one of the slowest learners around.

It is nice to finally be making some progress.

Again, thanks to you all.

You will always see a Red Box around Bar 5 on the screen indicating that there is a Bar Change Here.

Good for you Guy...

Had not noticed this, but it might make a good Wishlist item.

Would it be visually distracting to have those colored entries in the Mixer changing often? Perhaps we would have to see it to know. Like many other Wishlisted items, it might be better if it could be optional. Also, there are a host of items about the Mixer similar to this, and we do not know if PG Music wants to make every parameter change in real time. The natural extension of that would be to support interaction with a control surface.

Hey Matt, I just figured it would automatically do it. Some things like that I just expect cause I don't know any better. Never thought that I would need to ask them to add something like this.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
