Are there any other BIAB users out there who are also having problems with Realtracks endings when set to 4 bar endings?

This seemed to be resolved with version 2011, but raised it's ugly head again with version 2011.5.

What happens to me is that the track ends, but one of the instruments ends about a beat later, then all the instruments fade, then either a guitar, drum or other instrument plays another loud beat once everything has faded. If you've experienced it you will understand the problem.

I've referred it to PG Support, but uncharacteristically they say that it's not likely that this will be resolved in the near future - though it's been passed to the programmers again.

To me, the endings are something that's integral to the program, and unless they work I can't use the program. So it feels as if PG have just abandoned me! Perhaps they've taken up the challenge to completely redesign the program suggested in other threads, so they don't have the resources to put problems right, or maybe the recession has hit them? I was so thrilled when they sorted it out in the last version, but if it's only me who's worried about it, I guess they won't rush.

Would anyone else like to add support to my case - they say everything is done "democratically" so if there are enough people with a concern, perhaps the issue might rise further up the list.

I'm not as sure that this is a resurrected problem for everyone. Although I do not dispute it works this way for you, some people never had this problem. Others had some form of it right along.

I believe there was a post a few months ago that systematically described a relationship between the "bang/last note/drum hit/after-the-fade something" that some people heard, and the count-in settings. I used to get a "bang" which sounded like the drum pick-up to a non-existent repeat, but I have not heard that since version 2010.5 or so.

Did the Support staffer you spoke with verify it is a universal problem? I ask because I don't think it is.

Ha, ha -- there are a couple of times where that added guitar or piano chord actually added something cool to the song and I left it in. Endings are among the toughest things to get right in BIAB. Normally I have to do multiple re-gens, artistic fades and edits to get everything to be smooth.

Yes, it seems to be an issue, but you can work around it.

On a lot of songs I unfold and make an ending before the auto ending. On the first bar I use a part marker (for the drum fill)second bar I use a hold chord and let it hold for 3 or 4 bars and add a shot chord or not at the desired end. Also cut and paste parts from the auto-gen ending if I like them. A long way around ,but doable . I think this should be kept at the top of the wish list till PG can fix the problem .

This is a constant irritation, and I look forward to the day that it's fixed.
In my case, it's usually the drums that carry on playing after the other instruments have come to an end.

It's really annoying when you have it open in a wave editor and discover one of the tracks rambling on for ages. I'd have sacked the sods from my band

In my case it's when I use an extra instrument not in the real style used or when making a group of individual tracks not tied to a style . Sometimes I make that track hold their last chord , but it's not perfect.

I do this all the time. < / repeated, gentle, polite request for more than 256 bars, please >

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
