General question. I have a lot of PG programs for Windows. This has prevented me in the past from getting a Mac. But there have been other issues, price among them. But now I am again considering getting a Mac as my next computer. Does anyone have experience running PG programs for Windows on a Mac, and how well does this work? What additional software is required for the Mac to do this, and how seamless is it?

From past posts by Mac users it seems that many think running BIAB windows on the Mac is better than running the Mac version. I have considered the same thing and it seems you need the PC boot strap program with the operating system. You can get it at pretty much any of the Mac stores.

I program the Windows version of Band-in-a-Box on a MacBookPro (using BootCamp), under Windows 7/64 bit.
So BB for Windows works great on a MacBookPro under Windows. Everything works, I can't think of anything that doesn't.
note: I haven't tried it under Parallels, this is all under BootCamp (which is the version that you need to reboot the machine to switch between Mac and Windows).

Hello Peter, thanks for checking in! In addition to BiaB for Windows, I have most of your brother's instructional programs, and the Blues instruction stuff by the Canadian fellow, Danny C. I think his name is. And I have the 50 Rock licks program. So are those programs going to run under BootCamp also?
Also, would it be too much trouble to test BiaB under Parallels and get back to us? I won't be buying this new hypothetical computer for a while. I am guessing that Parallels allows the user to run two operating systems simultaneously and to switch back and forth between Mac-based and PC-based software without having to reboot.
And thanks for all the cool software!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
