Using sounds from the real world is pretty common amongst experimental musicians. A friend of mine did a concert using sampled rhythms and sounds from the real world he had recorded, and incorporated them into a live concert with experimental/jazz musicians. Very interesting!

Just thinking about the title of this post "Life Before BIAB" and thought hey the tractor would have been a welcome addition to my presentation before BIAB which consisted of me, an acoustic guitar, mic and 250 or so songs on cheat sheets in binders. I was thinking about this yesterday as I left my 3rd gig in two days where I played Mardi Gras music for a couple hundred people, the difference Night & Day, no not the song the analogy of life before BIAB. (And a couple of grand worth of sound equipment of course.)
Life was great before BIAB, after BIAB it is still great but the Music Sounds Better!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
