Been using Sampletank, one instance and it covers both channels 4 and 8. Works just fine.
Started using A nice Acoustic Guitar for channel 8 with medium complexity in the notes. It was very low level so kicked up DB level quite a bit. Was over-driving, I thought. Reduced the extra DB down to .9 and levels are Ok but low.
Don't think problem is with rendering, but maybe latency for busy parts for the guitar. The sound is fantastic, until hitting busy parts, then it sounds like it is overdriving. Almost like growling guitar sound.
Tried to setup forte for channel 8 and leave sampletank for channel 4. Went to solo selected forte, went to melody to drop the channel 8 voice from sampletank. Forte was there. Tried couple different things to get ST on solo and Forte on melody. Didnt work.
I feel like the distortion/growling is a latency problem, not sure tho.
Actually two questions.
One how do I have two different VSTi's installed?
Does it sound like a latency problem ?
What's ole Frank doing wrong?

To have multiple synths, you need the 2012 version of Band-in-a-Box, otherwise use RealBand.
Have one syth setup as your default. Then, for other sythns, open the Mixer window, and then click the Plug-in button. You can choose a synth for each track from that window. (The mixer button is next to the Play button.)
I can't answer about the potential latency problem.

Jim, I usually overlook the signatures also, but have most of my basic stuff there, including 2012 UltraPlusPak. Lot of folks put this data there for rest of us to use when trying to help. Maybe my "default" synth is not set correctly. Took wife to do bit of shopping then big supper buffet at local casino. Ate too much like always, so all the synapse's are'nt firing correctly. Will try this out tomorrow. Quote:

That's just how I do it. Will let you know.
Thanks!

BTW, all this was accomplished thru the rendering process. First of all let me answer this Quote:
One how do I have two different VSTi's installed?
I did set default synt before working on the song. My problem was self created. Do not set your wanted Melody VSTi by using Click Default. If you want VSTi Sampletank for Melody then you simple click Plugin on top right and select ST. Do same for Solo. You now have two separate instances, not sure this is necessary based on answer two below, but it does work. Might be able to simply set channel 4 for melody and 8 for solo.
Second of all:
Quote:
Does it sound like a latency problem ?
No is was NOT a latency problem in this case. Again caused my own problem, but learned from it. Tried all levels down to nearly zero for the Acoustic Guitar voice. Its was still garbled. Solution....Uncheck Normalize box. Normalize also brings up levels if they are low, in this process garbling took place. The busy part not just sounds nice, not garbled.
Jim you jogged my memory, and guided with your suggestions, Thank you!

Frank,
I'm glad you worked it out. Thanks for posting the answer here.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
