All:
I am using BB to play CDG karaoke files. I wish to be able to change the key of the song as it is playing to accommodate people with different vocal ranges.
Please let me know if there is a slider or some mechanism to change the key on the fly while the song is playing.

Well, sort of.
If you use the key signature drop-down control (just left of the tempo control), the song will regenerate and continue playing in the new key. However, there will be a pause to regenerate. The more RealTracks you use, and the less powerful the computer, the longer the pause.

If you are using commercial CDG files, there is no way to change the key on the fly. You need different software for that

I thought CDG files came in 3 different keys to begin with, no?
You would have to convert the audio to a wave file and then transpose the wave file to the key you are wanting to sing the song in. Realband has a pitch shift editor to do this with, but I'm not sure how well the end result will be. Worth a try though.

Thanks all for your replies. Indeed there is no easy way to change key on the fly. There are two files: an mp3 and a cdg. I'll have to look for another way to play them.

Look for pitch and tempo change in BIAB and RB help. I have used RB to raise and lower pitch which is measured in semitones. You can't make drastic changes though or it sounds terrible. I have made pitch changes to karaoke mp3's that I've downloaded from Amazon with no problem using RB. I would think that any DAW would have this feature also. I know that WavePad does. Personally, I like that feature in RB. I've never done it on the fly though. I've seen this feature on karaoke machines even cheap ones but I've never used it on such a machine.
