Hello,
I would like to have Band in a Box in sync with my drummer. He plays a Yamaha DTXtreme IIs electronic drumset. I know it is possible to send a BiaB master click to the drummer but I would prefer using Band in a Box as a slave. The problem is obviously rhythm accel/decel and start/stop (this last could be solved with a start/stop drumpad). Accel/decel sync problems are in part solved by the audio feedback to the drummer.
Any experience ?

Bring up the Conductor
Select the "Enable control by Midi keyboard"
Push the "Show Midi Notes" button
If the edrums can send a steady beat o Eb4 then BIAB can sync to it.
Otherwise, skip it. Tap tempo isn't reliable enough to track live play.
Instead program some pads to send decrease / increase tempo changes, and the drummer can hit these to speed up or slow tempo down a bit.

This can't be done with Band-in-a-Box, however it IS possible with RealBand, which is included with Band-in-a-Box and can open Band-in-a-Box song files. To use RealBand as a slave, select either MIDI Sync or MTC as required, from the Options | Sync Source menu item.

Thanks Raintalk and Andrew. Very informative answers. I have realized that the drummer cannot be an accurate master. The software should at least "see" the drummer movements, by optical systems (Kinect ?) or wearable inertial sensors. But this would require extra work. So I will use the simple midi click from BIAB or RealBand to the (slave) drummer.
