MIDI Guitar for Windows and Mac

The MIDI Guitar VST/AudioUnit/Standalone can be used with most digital audio workstations (DAW's) under Windows or MacOSX, and thus can be used for true polyphonic guitar synthesizers or for recording notes or tablature (auto-tabbing).

MIDI Guitar is currently in development with frequent updates and although it sets a new standard for guitar transcription, we have still got plenty of headroom for improvements.

The latest BETA version of MIDI Guitar is freely available for evaluation immediately

The wonder is that this actually works!

I have my guitar playing throught SampleTank and Aria in just a couple minutes. So surprized that I am not sure what to do next.

I am currently in the standalone player. Guess I have to get over into my DAW and use the VST pluging mode and actually record something.

It is pure software in the VST plugin or a standalone application, no hardware. And yes I was a skeptic also, but ...

I think it started out as an Apple app and the forum members persuaded the developer to port it to VST. I could be wrong though as my memory ain't what it used to be.

I do have the MIDI Guitar app on my iPad though I have never even tried it out. Hmm, something to try later on.

I just tried the free trial version on my iPod and it works fairly well. Some latency as expected but a little bit more than my Roland GK3 pickup/GR-20 combo. That was using virtual MIDI sent to another musical app on the iPod. Using WiFi to a PC VSTi would of course increase it even more.

All in all quite usable. I suspect the VST version be a hit as well.

I'll be, this really works well as a free beta.. I am now recording the midi by VST plugin on a track in Reaper and then applying Aria to play any selection of instruments or synths. Actually, not a lot of parameters to mess with and no hardware at all. I can run a scale at medium tempo with 100% tracking and very low latency. I am amazed, and looking forward to how far I can take this..

that's very impressive Dan! I wonder how much it will cost after the beta is finished and the product hits the market?

have you (or anybody else here who has DL'd it and experimented with it) tried the plugin in Real Band to see if it works?I notice there was only a handful of DAWS that claimed to be compatible. Even Sonar wasn't on the list.

Works as a VST in Reaper as shown in my example above and the new video which was just released by a user. Also has a standalone application. Cost is currently $99 (beta is free and fully funcitonal - as a VST) . The beta continues to proceed with two new versions since I started using it.

I tired RB, however, RB and I don't get along well, so I gave up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
