I want to be able to take any song that I would like to learn to play on the piano (for example "all this love" by debarge) get it into band in the box so that I can view the chord names and then I can learn to play it easily.

Does band in the box have a way that I can easily do this? Is there a version of the above song and other popular songs created that I can upload into the software? I have tried the audio chord wizard and find it challenging to my skill level... chords just end up in the wrong place and that makes it more challenging to figure out the piece for me.

If there is a way that I can take a song and have it translated via midi into chords that would help.... I am also open to any suggestions that you may have.

I have no clue as to how to do exactly what you're asking.
Not familiar with the song but I found the chords if you haven't already done so which may help you should you be relegated to entering the arrangement in BIAB.

Hopefully others will chime in regarding your specific request.

I'm only good as a bounce for you.

Good luck...

Thanks for your response... I appreciate the effort you put into trying... The chords... Some of them... are incorrect... This was something that I wanted to do as a work around.... If I had the correct chords it would have worked.... The audio chord wizard should work... however I have yet to figure it out because I have to hit the space bar at the right beat through the entire song and I have to be correct... This takes technically correct counting and that is why I was wondering if there was another way via midi or something....

Hi John,

If you can find a midi file of the song you want to learn in BiaB go to file/import chords from midi file. This will extract the chords for you. However remember you will be at the will of the midi file producer so the chords there may or may not be the ones you are familiar with.

Another possibility is finding a BiaB file of the song. I believe there is a Yahoo forum that has them but I do not belong so possibly some other forum member can direct you there.

Good luck

Thanks for your response.... you are hitting onto something that I was wondering.... Right now "all this love" by debarge is the song that I am working on... However, I learn best by being able to hear and see the names of the chord symbols.... Your point about being at the mercy of the creator is well taken and I can work with that understanding... If someone could point me to a place that has a wealth of BIAB midi files I could get the pick of my choice and ultimately this could go along way in helping me to be able to grow musically because I learn best by association within a familiar context.... I am looking to build a working chord vocabulary.

If anyone knows the location of midi files please chime in....

Thanks again....

John

John, google is my best friend when looking for midi files and many other things for that matter. Google “ the song title you are looking for + midi” (no quotes) and you will find just about any song you want. Note that on some sites you may have to right click and save target as to get the file.

Good luck.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
