What Line 6 stuff do you use????

I don't know the model name but it's a 150w with 2 Celestions and I have the shortboard. I have never had this amp past 1/4 volume. The onboard effects are great, 4 saved presets.... (A is alternative, B is blues, C is clean and D is distortion - the only way I can remember them). No outboard gear at all. The chorus and flanging in the amp is better than anything I have outboard.

How about an audio demo of both birthday gifts?

Soon. I am learning how to use the Nord. Sliders, buttons and switches I have never had before, like the digital drawbars for the organ sounds, the onboard effects bus, the samples banks... I have only spent an hour with it so far. On the program for today though.

Hey Eddie.

You realize that I'm now expecting some rather special tracks crossing the Atlantic. No excuses with stuff like that!

Why this guitar did not get more popular is a bit of a mystery but also I believe shows how the general public can be slaves to tradition.

What pickup configuration do you have? This one has a mini HB in the neck, a hot single coil in the middle, and a slanted HB in the tail. Pulling the tone pot singles the HB pups, so that you can get all of the classic strat-like sounds in positions 2 and 4.

But this is Eddie's birthday bash thread. Hopefully, we'll get to hear some new tunes as a result.

I own an Epiphone "Alley Kat" model that I love.

Mini Humbucker at the neck and fullsize hb at the bridge, along with a rather strange addition of a passive Master Volume control, a great feeling C neck, all original. One of the S Korean made ones.

Epiphone discontinued this particular Alley Kat model but still sell a couple or three of the "Kat" models, notably the Rockabilly version with the Gretsch Trem tyoe knockoff and goofy looking (to me) Dice for knobs.

But this Alley Kat is a fine sounding and playing small semi-hollowbody guit that can cover a lot of territory for the working guitarist who may have to play jazz one week, cover some pop or rock or r&b the next, some light country, etc. I think of it as my "335 that can do more tricks than the 335".

Don't need the icon . . . I heard it!

Epi may have borrowed the master volume control from Gretsch along with the whammy bar. It's a feature of the Country Gent and other 6100-series models. Sounds like a great axe!

A new instrument can indeed inspire you to play more. All things being equal, more playing equals better playing!

So a new keyboard and a really nice guitar may inspire Eddie to become an even better player.

I hope it does. Have fun Eddie!

Scott,
My Nighthawk has full size, slanted Humbucker at bridge, with coil tap; single coil in mid and small H/B at the neck, no tap. With standard Strat type, 5 way, p/u selector. The tremolo arm is not locking but with 5 springs is extremely stable as the tuning stays good when abused. No push/pull on the knobs and they are both passive, vol and tone.

Last tuned a year ago and it was STILL in tune, YAY.

A lovely guitar!

Alyn,

No trem on mine and I can tap both HBs, but it sounds like generally speaking it's a similar setup. The Gibson Nighthawks were 2 pup configs if I'm not mistaken. Some of them slanted the tail pup, some didn't. I like mine. I actually use the middle single coil more than I would have thought, it's got a really nice bite to it - hotter than the HBs by just a bit, and not as thin as the tail pup on single.

But anyway, we've hijacked Eddie's thread!

Yes. The guitar and Nord keyboard were both a birthday gift and a retirement gift from me to me.

(no wait, I bet you play that too...)

cool gifts... you should post at least one totally solo song in which you play all the instruments!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
