Hope this makes sense!! I found what I consider to be the ideal BIAB style for a Christmas song that I want to do entitled "Jingle Bells (A Cowboy's Holiday)" by the Bellamy Brothers. I am using the style "HOWARD-fast. Sw 16ths Pop" and I like it! Well, except for a couple things. It seems that this style only wants to do its set pattern for 4 beats ONLY. In other words, the style doesn't want to change if I change a chord after 2 beats. How do I override that? In other words, in measure 12 I want the bass to do this: "[C, C/Bb] [C/A, C/G"]. But the pattern just wants to do the C ONLY of that. And, also, I want to do this in the following measures: 57=Gm (2 beats) and C (2 beats) 58=Am (2 beats) and D (2 beats) 59=Gm (2 beats) and C (2 beats 60=F (2 beats) and Db (2 beats)Again, the bass pattern only wants to do it's set 4 beat pattern for the whole measure which is based on the chord at the beginning of the measure and simply disregards any chord after that. How to fix/override?

Hi rokq,
What you describe should work. I'll try it out and get back to you.
Do you have the bass track frozen by any chance? If you do, you need to unfreeze it before you regenerate the song.

Be sure to regenerate the entire song after you make changes.
I have done what you describe.... the first being a bass line walking down through a transition..... that should work.
I've also done what you describe in the second part..... and have even used different bass notes in that circumstance as well....
Be sure the track is not frozen and be sure to regenerate after each change.
My BB set up is defaulted so that it DOES regenerate if I make one small change to the tune. Unless I select the button which plays the last generated copy.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Thanks for the replies. But, on this one, I guess things just worked themselves out on their own! This morning I checked to see if the tracks were frozen and they were not and then I tried to play the song, but it froze up. I had to exit and then re-open BIAB but, again, the song froze up. It actually froze up (after the first intro click) 4 different occasions. I checked and BIAB was working on other songs but not this one. So I did what I had to do. I rewrote the whole song with the same style. All I did that the bass worked fine but the bass sounded strange throughout the whole song after I stuck in the multiple chords in a bar in different locations in the song and it wasn't acceptable. However, I lucked out by finding a replacement bass style after a couple tries and, now, the bass is PERFECT! So I'm not gonna analyze this anymore and am just going to leave well enough alone. Thanks again!! cheers, Bob

If you are certain that you can reproduce this using the same RealTrack(s), you should sent it to PG Music Support.

Is it possible I should have simply rebooted my computer and THEN programmed the song with the style I was having trouble with? I ask because I tried the style this morning after starting my computer up (I usually shut it off at night) and it worked perfectly. In fact, I decided to use it instead of the one I used in it's place. I think I'll just blame it on computer error. cheers

Is it possible I should have simply rebooted my computer and THEN programmed the song with the style I was having trouble with? Yes indeed, I'm always telling folks to try the cold reboot first, not sure how many listen. But it has been my experience that sometimes a heavy edit session, where you might make a certain number too many changes to a BB songfile can lead to troubles such as you mentioned and a few more, whenever that happens here, the first thing I try is a cold reboot, works a good percentage of the time. Can't prove it, but my theory is that the computer can run out of resources. Reboot puts all the bit ducklings back in a neat row behind the mama bit duck where they're supposed to be. --Mac

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
