I have not had a chance to work more than 10 mins on 2014 since this is our busy time for the shop but questions come up driving me more crazy than I am already. Ok, could you make a User track by opening a midi file, say Wabash cannonball. Do not enable style, just play the midi. Then create a wav of it, save it as wabash.wav Save the BIAB without style enabled as wabash.sgu put both in the user folder called wabash, then create the user track style wabash. note copyright issues aside, this is just for example. Does the style option have to be enabled to create a user style? Thanks again for helping me understant ut's Wyndham

well the process you are describing would work in theory BUT you'd have a User Track that is more then one instrument. I'd be willing to bet it would sound awfully weird played over some different chord progression. Some of the confusion I think is due to the fact that the terms 1. RTs 2. User Tracks 3. Style are being used interchangeably.

Ok,I think that you may have hit on something. I may have blended several things in my mind and misunderstood the purpose of user tracks.
If we use wabash cannonball played by a single instrument, the dobro, then do we have a dobro real instrument, in a style called wabash.
if we then recorded a banjo playing wabash claw hammer style, would that be another real instrument in the the wabash style each in it's own folder though the styles are similar. In my first post I should have said one instrument playing wabash cannonball as I did not mean multi instruments in the song.
Is this any close to what user tracks are? thanks Wyndham

I'm going to respectfully sort of clarify with Peter. A PG made RT or a User RT is just one instrument playing in a certain way. I didn't want to use the word style because that's how the confusion starts.. A"STYLE" is a collection of instruments that have been grouped together and let you assign them to a song in one fell swoop.

So in your above example those instruments are playing in the wahbash style but there not a "STYLE" until you make a "STYLE" by grouping them into one using the "STYLE MAKER".

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
