With the advent of more powerful tablets, I would love to see BIAB for android. Ray

I would love this too! Just not sure the tablets are powerful enough yet...

I posted in another section of the forum that BIAB on my laptop takes up 60 GBs, 45 of that is taken up by Real Tracks. I understand that some present day tablets have up to 64 GBs. So, 15 GBs for BIAB, a few GBs for your favorite Real Tracks and BIAB song files take up very little space. Sounds feasible to me. iRealb, which is a "poor man's" version of BIAB playback only takes up 30 MBs on my tablet and smartphone. Hopefully PG will consider the android market. Later, Ray

I would be happy with a stand alone - MIDI only version with a handful of MIDI styles. Reading mgu and sgu files and transposing them will be important features, but the inclusion of a handful of MIDI soloists (think on a basic version of BIAB 7) and some basic notation functionality would be absolutely killer.
IRealb is very limitated in comparison with BIAB, but has sold thousands of copies and it's a great success between musicians, because it's a stand alone program, because works in small devices, because it's simple and intuitive and because it has no competitors.
On the other hand, PgMusic has an enormous treasure and a great advantage, which is its massive musical database (MIDI styles, soloists, etc...) developed over the last 20 years. This material could be easily reused in a new app, and in my opinion, there won't be no competition for such a great product in the Android Market.

Having used MIDI for many years, when Real Tracks came out, there was no comparison for me. Real Tracks just feel a lot better on gigs. I just don't need the control you have over MIDI tracks for control over Real Tracks. Later, Ray

Agreed. I have Irealb and its OK, but BIAB would be much better--a real standalone BIAB for Android and IOS, not the current one that connects to desktop BIAB. And you are right--it should be all MIDI. Both with processing power and storage Realtracks would not be very practical. IT could include the new MIDI Super Tracks though. And of course if one created an all-midi song while on the go, one could transfer it to the desktop or laptop later and change it to RT. If one then wanted to play back that RealTarck version on the phone one could make an audio file of it, and put that audio file on the phone, Current portable devices certainly have the processing power and storage to use an all-MIDI version ported to those OSes.

Agree midi only BIAB would be a nice beginning for Android. It would be wonderful to connect tablet to pc via usb or wi-fi network then copy MGU or SGU songs between devices. Even nicer if BIAB for Android had 77 built-in midi styles so songs could be created inside the program. A big issue for many users might be many of their songs use hybrid or Real styles. I think there would have to be some way to accommodate RealTracks.

It's a bit spendy but look at the Lenovo Yoga 13. I have one. It's a laptop or tablet with a x64 processor running Windows 8.1 with 215gb ssd and 8gb of ram. I have the full biab and realband plus other music software running on it. While not quite a desktop substitute it is working fine as my only computer right now and it works nicely on a music stand at gigs.

Hi All,
The way I dream it: What BIAB has to do is make an APP (yes, another one) that plays the BIAB program thru their own hard disk version.
Dreaming on... Brian

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
