What happened to the Midi Instrument Change feature for midi tracks you bring into BB? I imported midi file from Music Time Deluxe into BB file "The Lighthouse". The import worked like it should except the Melody Track had horns as the instrument and I want to change it to something else. Before, we would highlight the melody by pressing the button and changing instruments through Midi I or II controls. I know it's there somewhere, but where?

Ok, went to help screen and typed in Change instruments. It told me to press track I wanted to change and then the (F) button (favorites). Couldn't find that button either.

David,
First, interesting question. I went to the New Mixer clicked on Patches Tab, then clicked on Instrument : 61 French Horn. Screen pops up allowing to to change a lot of things including midi patch. This was new to me.
Did sames steps on Old mixer. Worked same way. This will get what you want, but it did confuse me(sometimes doesnt take much).
I have lost my GM2 setups with the 2014 upgrade. Its probably there, but have to find check it out further.

Hi David,
When a MIDI file is loaded into BB, the whole file is on the Melody Track.
To change patches, we must use the "Sequemcer" or "SEQ" command to open the window that allows us to choose another patch or even mute certain channels if desired.
That is now located under the "Tools" toolbar in BB2014, which is accessed by clicking on the little down arrow there.
Other than that, it works exactly the same as in previous versions.
If the MIDI file is not a Type 1 MIDI file, all instruments will appear on one slot in the SEQ window. That would mean you have a Type 0 MIDI file, These can be opened first in RealBand and the Channels Extracted as Tracks, then resaved as a Type 1 MIDI file that can be imported into BB with separate channel/track control available.

--Mac Mac, I believe you have a typo here. You should resave the MIDI file as a type 1 not as a type 0.
I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

David Walker I imported midi file from Music Time Deluxe into BB file "The Lighthouse". Mac, Excellent points you made....I try to re-read requests, and did not pick up on that.

You just have to visit the MIDI/Audio Setup window under Options, top RH slot, and rechoose the GM2 patchmap. Of course, the Patchmap does not create the sounds, so you will also have to have a GM2 capable MIDI synth invoked as well. --Mac

That's exactly what I wanted. The Sequence button was the key. I sing in a quartet at Church and put all my songs into some sort of format. This one, I changed the horns to vibes to hear the 4 part harmony with band. Works great. Thanks to all who answered my request. I can always count on you guys giving me the answer I want. I am also concerned about another question that was raised, does the Sequence button display GM2 instruments as well?

Unfortunately, I don't think the SEQ can access GM2 or Upper Banks at this time, although there may be a way or a workaround that I don't know about.
If a MIDI file requires that type of thing here, I move the project to RealBand and use the fullblown MIDI facilities available there.

I think Mac is correct, and I recall Peter Gannon is aware of the request to access the higher banks. To my knowledge, the fix has not been issued.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
