sometimes a synth pad will work in that situation. There are some pads in RB.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Do you have the part (as MIDI) and you're looking for a better instrument to play it, or are you starting from scratch and have nothing on that track right now?

Yes, we need some more detail to give a good answer. In addition to the above, can you share what kind of song (style) you are doing?
Also, can you define "laid back string section"? Strings by definition take a moment to 'sound' and have the volume swell to build up. I think you will get that effect on most string patches, particularly if you are running a slow tempo.

If you have BB2014 there are good strings in the Bonuspak that came with it. HTH Ian

I like to sequence my own string parts (in Sonar). Much more realistic than string pads. Garritan Aria has nice strings, as does the new SI Strings in Sonar X3. Regards, Bob

The MIDI Track Picker adds a MIDI track from a different style to the current song. For example, add a Strings track from a Bossa style to the Strings track of your current song. Open the dialog and choose a Band-in-a-Box track. Then choose the style and the source track that you want to add.
To see a full description with screenshots, step by step, open the Help inside BB by selecting the Help menu -> Topic Search. Then enter "Strings" into the LH search pane and hit the List Topics button. Scroll down that list and find, MIDI Track Picker. Doubleclick on MIDI Track Picker to view the good stuff on RH side large window. Adding the Strings from any Style as a separate track is easy to do. Worth revisiting and auditioning strings from a few different styles that may seem to match your project's tempo and fell until you get "just the right one". The above saves you from having to "roll your own" strings parts and takes advantage of the fact that the Strings parts in the already existing styles were developed by the experts on the pgmusic staff. --Mac

As others have suggested, the String Quartet Real Track would be my first approach.
If that doesn't work and you've got a MIDI part but aren't happy with your strings, I could render it for you. I've got a number of string libraries that might work for you. I'll PM you my email address.

Do I remember correctly that the string quartet was in the Bonus 12 pak?

I noticed that you have a Sound Blaster installed. Have you tried any Soundfonts?

. Many of the styles provide a strings part in the B section. These also kick in automatically on the second verse of songs using those styles. Try a few different styles until you find one that has this feature. Then find some more.
PLEASE EXPLAIN: Do you want BiaB to write the notes for a string section in the second verse?
OR...
Do you want to locate voices of a certain quality to play the notes of a string part that you have already written?
.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
