Hi to all BIAB experts out there;
I have used an acoustic piano Realtrack (2047 PianoMIDISolAcCtrySwJohnSw85) as an Intro to a song and it fits my chord sequence and tempo perfectly although I have not explicitly specified this an Intro in the 'Song Settings dialogue'. I would like to use the same identical variation a second time in the song as a bridge section played over identical chords and tempo as the Intro. However, BIAB plays back a different variation the second time around. I have switched off the 'use different variations in choruses' button and have ticked the button to use simple variations but BIAB still changes the solo the second time around.
Does anybody have a not-too-difficult workaround that forces Realtracks to use the same solo or sequence of notes every time?
Many thanks for your help,

Can't be done in BIAB. You get what it plays. You can freeze it when you hear something nice, but you have to freeze the entire track.

Yes to what Matt said. Bring the song into Real Band. Find the riff that you want and then copy-paste it in other places. Sometimes I will take a single part, generate a Realtracks, then set up two blank tracks below the original to accept copied-and-pasted riffs. Gives a nice degree of flexibility. Make sure you know how to use the "Multiriff" feature in RB. Begin by R-clicking in a Realtrack and choose "Multiriff' from the menu. Once in a while, I have found Realtracks that just happened to match the melody of the song I was working on. By careful cutting and pasting I was able to make Realtracks match my melody. Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg6gF9siJeg&list=PLA4F3474E15D59D98

Yes, and it's not just to copy/paste sections of what you like. You have more control over what gets changed by using RealBand.
In BIAB, Regenerate changes the whole track, but in RealBand, you can regenerate parts of a track. You might find that a little variation works, as opposed to a lot of variation (and by that, I mean by changing the entire track each time).

Thanks for all your replies and help. I guess I'll have to delve into the mysteries of Realband to get what I'm after. Do you think that a feature such as this is worth adding to the BIAB wishlist?

I would love to see this feature added to BIAB!! I have no desire to use RealBand other than for this feature. And I find that when I start a song in BIAB, adding bar settings and stuff, then move my song to RealBand all of that work is lost.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
