Hi Aleck I guess that here you are mixing Live Sax and Trumpet with the RT equivalents to get this superb spread. Great guitar work - sounds a bit Gibson335? "Interesting" end chord. cheers ian

Dean,
One of your best! I think... Love the drums! Keys are tasty. Bass is cool. Guitar is funky. Saxes are sexy.... All fits together nicely.
The middle section - bass and guitar was very nice.
Cool stuff. Well done. A good listen... very musical.

Hi Dean,
great musicians have come together to deliver a masterpiece. After listening I found out it was 5:29, but no second boring. There is so much happening. You have granted me a beautiful listen.

Guenter,
This is a very profound compliment. You have my warmest thanks.
There is no denying that the combination of human players plus BIAB has awesome potential, as proven often enough by you, yourself.

Blues, what's that instrument you're playin' on there in your pic? Scott, your arsenal looks a lot like mine except for the jumbo flat-top. And a handsome instrument it is - what make? Dean

Thank you kindly gentlemen. Quite right, Ian, but not about the 335. It's an Ibanez hollow body jazz guitar with a sustain pedal in the first solo and my Eastwood 12 string in the second (don't need no sustain pedal with that baby). Oh yes, the ending chord, in the key of L, is Lmi17#11 with possibly a flatted square root of 2 thrown in - can't remember ... Dean

Hi Dean
The jumbo was a Takamine but it was too big for me so it got traded off for grand concert Taylor.... Yes they are all my adopted children :-)...

Awesome -- and that's a word I rarely use. What a sound stage! I can see the group right in front of me and everybody is in the "right" place. I'm miles from a sophisticated jazz fan but I do listen to a fair amount and this just sounds super to me. As Guenter mentioned there's not a tedious or lackluster moment in this 5+ minutes.

Hi Janice and Bud,
Sustaining interest. So hard to do in a long tune. You can thank my pal Luca for that. The guy is a harmonic genius, i.e., changes and voicings. In that one department I think he's the equal of, say, Herbie Hancock. He developed and recorded the basic tune structure in 20 minutes. Everything after that consists of footnotes. And that's him on nylon guitar in the middle. Mamma mia!
And, of course, thank you for those kind words.
Dean

Quite possibly the most innovative use of this software I've ever heard!

Wow! Now there's a compliment for you.
Icelander: Are you an Icelander? Then you know the name of my favorite Icelandic writer Arnaldur Indrittason (Jar City, Silence of the Grave, etc.) Man, is he good! I noticed a strange accent mark used in the Icelandic language when the name is spelled IndriDason. I've always wondered what that mark was.
I know three things about your country: (1) it is volcanic, (2) people do not have "surnames" as Americans know them: every one is "son of" or "dottir of"; (3) Icelanders somehow turned into very bad bankers. I hope that last sad episode has corrected itself. Last I heard, Iceland was ... am I getting this right? ... for sale?
With kind regards,
Dean Clark (aka Aleck Rand)

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
