Is there any way to tell band-in-a-box to stop autoscrolling to the currently playing measure when playing back? I want to enter chords in other areas of the song, while the rest of the song is playing. Any ideas?

Enter chords while the song is playing? I don't think you can.

Stop the scrolling? Look at Opt., Preferences, Notation. Eight lines down from the upper left (in BIAB 2014, at least) is "Scroll Ahead", which you can set to two bars (default), one or zero.

Or if you mean, scrolling from one screen with part of the song to the next part with the next part of the song, I don't think you can control the scrolling, but you can make more rows display on the screen, thus avoiding the scrolling. In that same menu, adjust "Bars per Screen". Then in the Preferences, Display, uncheck "Auto Adjust Row" and set a fixed number.

Hi Josh,

While it's possible to add chords to the chord sheet while BIAB is playing, the added chords will not sound until next time the song if fully generated. BIAB does not create accompaniments on the fly.

Regards,
Noel

Right, that's a good clarification. And you still have to be quick...

Thanks, Matt. I tried the things you suggested. But in my case, while the song is playing I want to be further down the chord sheet entering chords. Even though I know they won't change the music 'till the next song regeneration, it would save me a lot of time.

The problem arises when I scroll down further and I'm entering chords. The playhead advances, then the display gets scrolled up to the currently playing bar. That behavior drives me nuts.

Any other settings that might help?

Yes... you can enter chords as it's playing back but like has been mentioned, the time line keeps moving on.

I often will make changes as I see things that need changing in the song...

Yes, you must restart to make the changes active in the song.

IMHO, the best way is to simply stop the playback, make the changes, and then preview them to be sure they're correct.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
