Is there anyone out there who would be willing to teach me the basics via Skype/Teamviewer?
I have tried over and over with help notes, Youtube tutorials but it's such baffling software! I need a real live teacher.

I have learned other software online no problem (I'm in the UK).

Would be glad to pay and very grateful!

This is second time someone has asked a similar question in almost as many days but with no background context from the poster (you).

There is almost unlimited free stuff and learning material you can be pointed to learn BIAB - but there is SO much of it, as you've seen, it can be confusing which one(s) to start with. It helps forum members here to help YOU and point YOU to the right "stuff" if know some basics about YOU (even if someone were to do live video help with you they need some background on you):

If you have no idea what a treble clef is or can’t find the Windows UAC - that would lead us down one path to help you. If you have been teaching Windows OS, UNIX, Mac OS and C++ coding for last 20 years or have been or been in a philharmonic orchestra starting at age 10 as a child prodigy that tells us a whole OTHER path to start you on.

So from another post a few days ago:

- List your PC (OS, how much memory, HDD size, processor type/speed), what is your sound card (e.g., built-in Realtek audio chip, Sound Blaster Titanium PCIe, external M-Audio USB device, etc.)

- Do you have a MIDI interface (even a simple USB to MIDI cable)?

- Do you even know what MIDI is?

- Finally maybe in a few words (don't really need life history) your MUSIC experience and PC experience.

(Not being snide just it's easier to help someone if we know terminology/vocabulary level we can use. )

Do you have enough music background to know basic music terms (scales, keys, tempo, chords, clef, Dim7, ) if you studied at Julliard then you can teach US

Do you know the difference between MIDI and AUDIO?

And on PC side are you a limited user who checks email once in a while or a power user who writes assembler code. Do know what a user account control is in Windows, know the difference between the file Explorer and Internet Explorer, etc.

and BTW: HELLO and Welcome

Larry

Very happy to announce that there is a full tutorial on BIAB 2014 at www.Groove3.com

Maybe this will help.

PS: forgot to mention this was posted by a user.

Well said Larry. If someone just wants a little live "TeamViewer" time to explore BIAB then that is one thing. If on the other hand they need to arrange their grand opus, that is another. More details needed here.

Thank you Larry and others.
I write music using Cubase (which I learned online from a teacher)and BAIB is ideal for drum tracks etc to make a demo.
Piano grade 5 is my only music qualification. PC, using computer every day... what else do you want to know?

If anyone points me to more online videos etc again I'll go insane. I need a real live human being so I can ask questions, with a basic knowledge of BIAB, a computer, Skype and a bank account.

99% of people on here could do it.

Is that enough info?

K

There was a big change in the graphical user interface (GUI) in 2014, so your 2012 will look a bit different than my 2014 version. But we can try a Skype tomorrow if that works for you. It will be my Saturday morning in Chicago and I figure you to be ~6 hours ahead of me. Lets move this to the PM (Private Messenger - I will send you a PM) and we can exchange Skype names and set a time and see if that works.

OK, that was fun - especially loved Nerdle's British accent - I can listen to that all day. Sitting between my Surface Pro running Skype with camera and VOIP and my DAW running TeamViewer and viewing Nerdle's screen with BIAB 2012, worked out nicely .

I do agree, sometimes you just need someone to talk you through it. We all know BIAB is NOT intuitive.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
