Drag and Drop in BIAB.

Please consider having the ability to remove the Mixer window (hide) as this interferes with grabbing some instruments (see screenshot). Tough time trying to access Strings and no deal with getting to the Guitar.

For your consideration.

DEddy, you are correct, this is annoying. I think you should be able to completely hide the new mixer, or resize it just as you can the 'old' mixer that is still in BIAB.

FYI, this was requested last year as soon as the new mixer was released, and PG Music mentioned it had a plan to make this and other windows more flexible.

Just a comment, though, about what Drag n' Drop really is. All this does is reduce the size of the BIAB window to a minimum needed to do the drag 'n drop. If you use your mouse to drag the window size larger, you will reveal more of the instruments. If you drag it all the way, it becomes the 'regular' maximized BIAB window again. There really isn't any added function to the Drag 'n Drop mode; all it does is give you a minimized view, and if you need it to be larger (in this case, wider), you can make it so.

It should be very easy to do, but if they don't get around to it you can use a Tool to do it.
You always have the floating mixer window if you disable the main.
If you need it desperately, I can upload a tool.
I adjusted it manually but if you know the size you just key it in.

Matt, yes, I remember PGM making statements a year ago about further changes to the new mixer window. It seems that nothing happened.

SR,
You are da Man!
I wish they had staff vacancies at PGM...

Wait - what is this? A tool to resize the new (fixed size) mixer?

Just drag the cross-hair on the bottom right to the section you want to modify, click the minimize button or maximize if you want a big mixer (or just move it to the far right so you can just see a bit then you can move it back), then drag the cross-hair to the controls section, go to the Modify Window Tab, you have XY position & XY size, just key in size or use mouse wheel or cursor keys the on numbers.
You can also move the controls to the bottom and Chords to the top but it would be a lot easier if PG let you do this with a simple click n drag.
It's not permanent, next time you start it will be back to it's locked restrictive layout.
Will work with RB also.

It's a handy little Tool, maybe it should come with BB & RB smile

Could someone explain all this please. I am reluctant to run exe files without knowing more. The image is too fuzzy to see, here.

Just drag the cross-hair to the module you want to move.
Then use the mouse wheel or cursor keys on the XY size or position amounts.

Hi,

Anyone know where I can download the tool to resize the mixer window? Can't seem to see it in the other mentioned thread.

Thanks,

Check out thread #281291 (It's on this page)

Does this help?

(Note, I haven't used the tool so am not sure what's involved)

Hi,
I am nowhere near my DAW.
When I use drag and drop, I drag the BIAB instruments to the D+D box when BIAB is in full screen mode. Then I evoke the smaller version, reposition the small BIAB window to my liking and drag from the D+D box to my DAW. All instruments are available with ease this way.

That tool from solidrock looks interesting tho'

Did I understand the original post ?

I think you have it exactly right. As I explained above, if you can't see an instrument in Drag 'n Drop mode, just widen the window a bit. Or drag the Combo/Master button, which can always be seen.

The best way to eliminate this terrible feature is to delete 2015 and reinstall 12.5.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
