Update: We've had a lot of really positive feedback about the idea of a 3 day convention on Band-in-a-Box, RealBand and PowerTracks. We have been trying to find a good location to host the event, but so many places are already booked (for 2015)! Instead of doing the convention this summer, we will postpone the event until July 2016 so it can be done right! That also gives everyone more time to plan their trip to beautiful Victoria, BC.

PG Music is considering hosting a 3-day "Band-in-a-Box" convention. This would take place in Victoria BC, this summer in late July 2015.

- This post is to get some feedback from users to see if people are interested in the idea. It would be less than 1% of our users that we would expect would attend something like this, so there's no need to reply if you're one of the >99% that is not interested/available.

** please reply if you're possibly interested in attending this, and if we get enough interest, we can put it together **

It would be open to anyone, but would be intended for customers of Band-in-a-Box, that want to :

- Attend Seminars about:
- Band-in-a-Box, RealBand
- Interfacing with other software (ProTools, Sonar)
- Recording, Mixing
- Musicality (Songwriting, Playing)

- Meet other users
- Evening Jam session/get together
- banquet dinner

- See "Beautiful" Victoria BC in the summer. (See "About Victoria BC" below)

- As mentioned, this is just an idea at this stage, so these are just proposals:
- Seminar would be 3 days, late July 2015 in downtown Victoria BC.
- Cost to attend the 3- day seminar would be about $100. (You would also need to pay for/arrange your own travel/hotel/meals)

About Victoria BC.

with hundreds of thousands of visitors in the summer, including over 200 cruise ships. It has been #4 Best City in the Americas #3 Friendliest City in the World by Conde Nast Magazine Readers.

Well done, as usual, Peter!

I'll be there in spirit.

Take lots of pictures so we can all see what our dear PG friends look like.

I'm certainly interested.
Victoria's just a nice summer "road trip" from Calgary.
Sounds like a fun time.
Count me in.

I need an excuse to get to the States! So yes, if I can get another music pass I will come.

Okay, okay I KNOW BC is not in the states!

if anybody here is active on the Yahoogroups BIAB group, they may want to mention it there too. Surely there is a an attendance threshold which could be a deal breaker if we don't meet it.

Josie, the States are affectionately referred to as "Canada's Southern Provinces". Aside from the language barrier, they are the perfect neighbors, eh?

They don't talk much football or baseball. They prefer pummeling a wee black snuff box along the ice with a doglegged stick. They have great beer but, caution, it's 6+% alcohol.

Their Summer is 3 days in mid-August.

It might be a good idea to brush up on your Canada-speak before visiting. They use British English spelling which you may be accustomed to more-so in SA.

When crossing the US/Canada border (either direction) don't have any contraband or suspicious odors that could alert the drug-sniffing dogs. They will make your visit extremely memorable.

Peter, I would be interested in attending, depending on the days. As more of a "lurker" I read the forums with interest when time allows. It would be a benifit to attend some group interaction regarding BIAB. Thanks Dennis

Having just recovered from major pulmonary surgery about 7 months ago, and finally being free of oxygen, and feeling like traveling again, this sounds like a perfect opportunity to visit B.C. again, and hanging out with some other BiaB'ers would be great! $100/3days + expenses? Worth it!

Heck, I'll even bring some tracks, and my guitar rig and the idea of jamming with some others would be a hoot. And I would REALLY appreciate a seminar on RealBand... I still can't figure that program out! (And interfacing with Sonar would also be very helpful!

And I would very much look forward to meeting Peter!

I may be from Colorado, but I grew up in Texas...So, I'm learning how to "speak Can-Texan": "Y'all ain't from around here, eh?"

I just realized my family reunion is scheduled in late July, and I'm supposed to provide the live music... so this time slot might be a conflict of interest for me.

Thank you! I was really disappointed when I realized that a previous commitment would keep me from coming... this gives me a second chance!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
