I may be an old style player, but I can't believe that I could not find
any Real Drum styles to replace my MIDI Rumba styles.
Most of my BIAB library is jazz, bossa and rhumba and using bossa
rhythms for the bossas AND rhumbas is a bit too much.
Any suggestions? Am I missing them somewhere?
I just bought the Ultra Pack for Mac and have all the styles installed.

Thanks

There are some Rhumba RealDrums in the Windows version. I assume the Mac is the same. Rhumba, RhumbaFull, and RhumbaPerc. There are other Latin drums such as Salsa, Mambo, and Tango. Try the BossaTerryClark drums. I like them better than the Bossa kits.

Thanks Rachael. After a call to BIAB I was able to locate the styles you mentioned.

Some of the other styles, such as Jazz and Rock have Latin characteristics in them. You'll see them as you go through the styles and read the info. My favorite way to look for certain styles is to go through the demo songs; they load fast and give you an idea of what's there. There are just under 5000 of them.

Good Luck,
Dennis

Do you realise how long it would take to listen to all 5000 demo songs?

At an average of 3 minutes per track...

3 x 5000 = 15000 minutes
15000 divided by 60 = 250 hours
250 divided by 24 = 10.41 days WITHOUT A BREAK!

Well, I have.

But it was done over a long time, starting with BB 3 or so. I really can't recall the actual version number I started out with, but do indeed remember that it was on a Windows 3.11 machine, one of those Compaq portables that looked more like a Singer Sewing Machine than a computer *grin*.

As each new styles folder was released, I would spend the time Juking the new folder's demo songs in the background while doing other work. When hearing something interesting, would make a note of it.

Knowing the Styles well is not mandatory, but for the pro who works day in and day out, it can become that way.

Just pick one demo folder at a time and Juke it in the background. You may not hear them all, but I can almost guarantee you will hear something that may be the impetus to a new experiment, songwriting experience or production number.

One of the tricks I use is to start the Jukebox on the Demo Song folder and then MUTE the Melody track. That way I only hear the accompaniment part. This really gets the creative juices going on some of them.

What Mac said!

And as background music, it's often much better than the radio. Since so much of it is unfamiliar, it doesn't distract me while I work on something else (because, otherwise, I'll be singing along). But every so often, something really strikes my fancy and I listen more closely. Those are the ones I take notice of for future reference.

Hey Jazzsax,

Just a quick tip>I live in Mexico now and I get a LOT of requests for Bolero's and Rhumba's, etc. I find the Bolero Real drums works very well with both of these styles (Bolero being from Mexico and Rhumba from Cuba) As long as your tempo doesn't exceed 130, you should be fine.....

Hope that helps,
Ed

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
