1.First are Bagpipes used for rhythm in Scotland?
2.Second, What type of rhythm would they play ?
3.Is there any U.S. genre that would be similar in beat
and feel ?
I have to nail down in a genre playing a VSTi instrument that would
have feel of the bagpipe, but not its sound. Bagpipe would replace it.
This could then be used for the UserTracks creation.
It sounds like the uniqueness of the bagpipe is a tough road
to conquer.
Only thing ever listened to for Bagpipes was very sad music.
Although some marching music also.
Do not have a feel for how to use the Bagpipes in a UserTrack.

Bagpipe has drone pipes....
Sitar has drone strings...
Both instruments are painful to listen to.

No. Bagpipes are found in many cultures around the world. They belong to a musical conception that does not correspond to the modern of "rhythm' as distinct from 'melody' or 'harmony.'

Similar to in what style, and in what way? I would like to talk to you about your project. I have been able to approximate Indian and Chinese traditional styles using BiaB. I may be able to suggest something.
Besides, we live fairly close.

First, can see not a lot of love lost on bagpipes.
A mind/ear imprint made on me thru the years
The music to me is melancholy.
Regarding U.S. genre:
Only one I'd recognize would be marching music.
Regarding melodies, seems like drums would be "rhythm".
FWIW, it is not my intention to create Bagpipe music.
However to create a UserTracks using bagpipe, do need to
understand a little of its use.
Will PM Graham pointing out the posting if he missed it.

I have gotten an acceptable approximation of bagpipes using layered oboe and bassoon instruments from sampletank.
