Some type of forum member involvement does sound like a good idea. We'll look at some options.

Years ago I was an admin and a mod for a cycling forum forum my business at that time (an outdoors shop) sponsored. Subsequent to that I've been a mod on a high traffic history forum. FWIW and based on my experience I can say that this forum is very well moderated. It is helped by the civility of 99.9% of the members and the spam that get's through is minimal and isn't particularly disruptive. There is very effective anti-spam software for boards that can be implemented if things get out of hand.
My mod time taught me that being a moderator is a bit of a thankless job and on most boards the role is handled by volunteers who are doing it because they love the topic at hand. Mercifully, here moderators do not have to frequently intervene in flame wars over contentious subjects, e.g., religion, politics, etc. This is a very inviting atmosphere.

Yep, also agree Herb. The 3 strikes and you're out idea would be a very good approach. The issue is that spammers come in once, create a username, leave their pile, and leave. If they come back again, they create another username and do it again. They don't stay around for a third strike.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.
1. How much did you make in 2023? 2. Send it to us.

I agree Eddie. If I wasn't clear, the three strikes as implemented on the Cakewalk forum refers to three different users flagging one post, which is withdrawn for review. I've seen this work well and quickly.

If they come back again, they create another username and do it again. They don't stay around for a third strike. You missed the point. Matt explained it ... 3 users flag that one post and it goes bye-bye. You can also block their IP address so that if they are doing this from home..... they have to go somewhere else since the home IP is blocked. Makes it a bit more inconvenient for them to ply their slimy trade.

I don't think there is any need for more "management" at all. I've got enough of that in my day-to-day life...
Whoever is looking after this forum is doing ONE HECK OF A JOB!!!!
A Big Thank You. You are doing a Great job!!!
floyd As one bent, old flatulent Irishman who's prone to push the envelope in pursuit of humor, I wholeheartedly agree that the modulators do a wonderful job! Thanks all. +1

I am a member of several music related forums, including Cakewalks. I don't frequent the Cakewalk forum as much as I use to because I don't get that "part of the family vibe" or feel as welcome there as much as I use to. The atmosphere has become charged with too much bickering partly because some Cakewalk forum members are sniping about volunteer forum moderator decisions. Who needs or wants to be part of that? Most of us have more than enough drama in their life already. There are differences of opinion between forum members here but the discussions are civil and respectful most of the time. When it gets out-of-hand peer pressure and self policing have a way of turning the heat down. When I see SPAM I get the same feelings I get when I receive an unsolicited robo call from a company that ignores the do not call list, angry. I also feel as though my good feel space has been violated. Then I want something done about it. I'd feel even better if I had a hand in doing something about it. Captha, or anything similar, is not an answer because it penalizes all members by having us jump through hoops EVERY TIME WE POST. Why penalize all because of the bad actions of a few? My vote is to let the moderators moderate and forum members be members! For the most part SPAM is handled in a reasonable amount of time. Having said that I do think some changes would be welcome. Here are some ideas: Limit the number of daily posts a new member can originate for the first week, ten days or month. Generate a (mad) emoticon beside any post flagged with the "Notify the Moderator" button. The emoticon alerts fellow forum members that the moderator has been alerted. The moderator can then either delete the post or replace the emoticon. This way everyone can participate in policing the forum.

It’s frequently been said on here that nothing that any of us say is actually going to change someone else’s mind. I’ve said that myself.
It looks like there’s going to be an exception to the rule. I initially endorsed the idea of having a few forum members as moderators. I also endorsed the “3 click” deletion by using the “notify moderator” button. After thinking about the objections posed by some of the forum members I can see how either option could be abused.
Considering how little spam we actually get and the potential for abuse by changing the current set up, I’m changing my vote to leave it as is.
If it ain’t broke, …don’t fix it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
