BIAB HAS no competition. In my opinion anyway. In that light if I may, this new vesion's appearance above the chord area looks like it came from the land of more and more and more NOW Damit!

We all live on a planet endowed finite resources. In BIAB we have the area above the chord sheet. A finite area getting very crowded with..... what seems to be an OPEN dialog that is more cumbersome then before i.e. clicks, loss of choice concerning what I want to look at and wade thru to find what I want. In the interest of what?

Stuffing a perfectly good place to create accompaniment music with unneeded and in some cases un asked for "improvements"?

How is the SAVE AS button considered an improvement? We had an icon that opened a useful link were often a touch of the `enter'
button got me right back to making music. NOT more mouse clicking.

After I saw the mac os in the 90's I decided the DOS world was as Robin williams so aptly put it " a bit light in their loaffers" for mouse clicks

What are you fellows and ladies thinking? Surely you can see that in the finite space of the area under attack by me.... more and more and more is not going to work there any more than it will for our planet. Please DON'T start nesting windows or making layers of windows for the sake of someones misguided idea of progress. Motu developers just about killed DP with this sort of thing in vession 8.

Screw the bells and whistles, please gives more musicality, more instruments,

Why not improve what was already there? If I enter four chords per bar with pushes, on a vibe track the result feels like moving thru mashed potatoes. And the vibes change register on every other chord.

Why not have more instrument choices like marimba or percussion from Brazil or Africa. Many more electric pianos with the ability to simple up. Some of the jazz tracks can come off like some of the 80's version Jamie Abersold playalong records. There was no room to get a note in anywere. But they must have had fun doing it.

What the developers have done to this `15` version makes it too easy to think they are trying to justify their jobs. It's possible of course, that's not the case. But how long can you keep stuffing more hamburger into the sausage casing?

Progress is NOT sustainable. Ask a Polar Bear........

Ron

Ron, there's a Forum section called Styles and Real Tracks Wish List
If you want more musicality, more instruments, more instrument choices like marimba or percussion from Brazil or Africa, then maybe post your request in that Forum?

More important to ME than changing the GUI, would be the ability to enter 8 chords to the measure. I know Notes Norton has styles that will do this, but we should be able to do it within BIAB. On a number of songs, being able to enter chords on beats 4 - 4and - 1 would be great. This has also been on the wishlist for many years. I don't particularly care what BIAB looks like as long the functions remain the same. There are other functions, (re: the Wishlist forum), that would be great to have before worrying about the GUI.

Hello Music student, since we are both on the same curve and all.... I feel that's what this forum is for. But if there something in there you felt wasn't true or inappropriate? Let me know, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something. I suppose it could get lots worse. Remember the animated drum kit? My cat liked it real well. I wish you the best.

Ron

P.S.

watch out! there's a tulip!

Hi Ron,

I don't know if you're aware of this or not but CRTL+T toggles the full-screen view and normal view for the BIAB chord sheet.

Like you, I like to have the chord view as big as possible. I find that I use CTRL+T quite a bit to switch to full-screen view.

Also, I've set my display to maximise the chord view as well. To do this, I opened "Prefs | Display", de-selected #2 on the image below and set #3 to 18. (It's also possible to change fonts using either #4 for PG Music fonts or #5 for Windows fonts.)

Best regards,
Noel

P.S. Tulips? I'd better tip-toe smile

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
