Can someone please tell me if it is possible to use RealBand 2014 with Zplane Vielklang 2. This is not an effect plug-in - you don't add it to a track or create an effect track to use it. You have to create an instrument track to use it.

I actually had it run one time on the same track I had a short vocal - I imported a WAV file. It wasn't working right tho. Then I tried to use it the way they say to and I had nothing but problems!

You're supposed to be able to use it with a DAW. I've seen it used with Cubase and ProTools. I'm not sure if RealBand qualifies.

It is a Virtual Instrument
It goes in the instrument slot, not the effects slot.

I don't have it, so can't say how it works in RB.

A VSTi should work fine in RB.

I use Sonar for my mixing and adding live tracks.

Follow the instructions for adding a VSTi and it should work.

You can find my music at:

You can load it into VSTHost then just export the midi/wav to RB.

Also in RB you can generate Vocal Harmony with TC Helicon Harmony plug-in that's come with RB, and convert mono audio track Pitch to MIDI and create midi harmony.

rharv & Guitarhacker:
I attempted to use Vielklang 2 as a virtual instrument and I had PARTIAL success on the very first try. Noticing I wasn't doing it correctly - I was supposed to use the virtual instrument with nothing (no data/music/audio) on the track - I tried again. I couldn't get it to play the loaded vocal track past the first measure AND it sounded tinny & robotic. confused

solidrock:
What you say makes a lot of sense. I can see how a sync problem would be disastrous for something like this. I read that 2nd thread you posted and it backs up what you said.

The TC Helicon Harmony plug-in is interesting - I've tried it before with varying results. It might do harmony okay but from the examples I've heard Vielklang 2 is much better AND Vielklang does the note/tone correction. This is one of its two major functions. Its more than a harmonizer.

I tried to use a vst host and in fact it doesn't work. The very first time I loaded Vielklang, I got it to then play back my wav file BUT the "play line" just kept on going, it would not stop! I reloaded the wav file and tried both with the host link and without it activated. It wouldn't work at all. Nada.

I only thought that not only would getting this to work in RB would help me out, but it would also be a help to other users too. I can always D/L a DAW - there are even free ones that'd probably work with this like Zynewave Podium or Traverso or even Qtractor. One of these would work right? Which one would be best?
(There's always LE or LT versions of DAWs like Cubase or Protools that I received with hardware I bought too.)

Thank you all,
Brad

Another way is get Live Professor Free it is a VST/i host you can slave to Realband's Midi Clock output ( Options > Prefs > Midi Out just check all the boxes to start with)
You can use LoopBe1 - Download your free copy Virtual Midi Cable. In RB Midi Drivers Output set it as the second highlight one down so it's not the default and in Live Professor Free in Midi Setting set it as Midi Clock.

I used Banana VB Cable and set Live Professor Audio to "Voicemeeter AUX ASIO" and RB to "Voicemeeter Virtual ASIO" and set the Hardware out to your sound card.

Also > View > Tempo Panel have the Sync on.
See below the big RB clock and the little Live Professor clock are synced (RB set without 2 bar offset just to show).

EDIT:
In Biab you can set > Midi Option > Output Sync/Start info: Syncs Band-in-a-Box with an external sequencer.

Skipping to the end of your last post, I thought it was interesting when you mentioned BIAB as a possibility. So I did as you suggested and checked 'Midi Option > Output Sync/Start info'. I think what you mean is that BIAB can sync with Vielklang just as it can with any VSTi synth. I loaded Vielklang choosing 'Add VSTi plugin' from the 'Default Synth Plugin' drop-down list (the same one with CoyoteWT & SampleTank). I got the interface of Vielklang to pop-up. The curious thing is when I loaded my WAV file into Vielklang and clicked Play in BIAB, my WAV file began to play - clearly, no distortion - BUT it would ONLY play the first measure! It would then repeat for as long as I let BIAB play - looping that first measure of the WAV file! I can even edit the vocal notes as usual but they don't make a sound. Also, I can't turn off the 'Link Playback to Host' (the short chain links on the interface) so I can't play/pause the file from within Vielklang.

Also, unlike the RB setup where I got the Harmony button to work, it would not work in BIAB. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or setting up something wrong.

Any thoughts as to how we might be able to use this info to totally edit & harmonize the WAV file? Does anyone have an opinion?

I think this could be important. I am close to dropping this in favor of using a regular daw tho. Any thoughts as to which one I mentioned above might be best? Slaving clocks via a vst host etc. might not be the best way to go.

I mean to Sync BB with Live Professor with the VSTi in: Slave Sync Live Professor Free to Realband/Biab/PT as BB has the same problem as RB/PT no sync to the VST from the host.

I can even edit the vocal notes as usual but they don't make a sound. To get sound you might need to be using ASIO Driver Also, I can't turn off the 'Link Playback to Host' (the short chain links on the interface) so I can't play/pause the file from within Vielklang.

Unless you have another DAW it should work fine in LP as a slave, this will allow you to save the midi/wav files from it back to RB once you have the sound/notes from Vielklang.

Another DAW will work fine, having LP as a midi clock slave is not ideal, but you can get all the VSTi's that need the host tempo/sync to work this way, I downloaded the demo version of Vielklang and I could see the problem instantly, I did not try it in LP as I'm pretty sure it should work fine.
I use EZDrummer and it is a PAIN to go from one DAW to the other all the time when you are making up songs. This way I can create the drum track in LP with EZD2 in it bit by bit, add MultiRiffs then add different fills where I just added a guitar MultiRiff, or I might want to add a hold on some instrument and put a drum solo in, as said b4 without going from RB to another DAW and back n forth . . . back n forth . . . back n forth. . . back n forth just like the cursor in the first bar goes cry

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
