Hi all. It's been a while since I managed to find time post a song, but I discovered this one sitting on my computer from a while back, just waiting for a mix. It's so old that the backing vocals were still done by Ellie and Jessie and they've been at university for over a year now. Not quite sure what genre this fits into, so judge for yourselves. There's an effect which I haven't used for years, but I thought it might be appropriate for my vocal on this track. It uses a vocoder, but using white noise instead of a synth as the carrier, with the voice as the modulator. I've kept it fairly subtle and it sounds a bit like stereo phasing. Hey, there's actually some RTs in there for a change - RT 494: Trumpet Jazz Ballad RealDrums: Hip-Hop Anyway, here it is. SWEET DREAMSEvery time I see your face I find myself Floating in outer space And every time I hear your voice I'm drawn in It seems like I don't have no choice I get sweet dreams floating round my head. Some say, "Is it right To waste your time Dreaming both day and night?" But I think that it's so good It's just fine That it works out the way it should I get sweet dreams floating round my head. As usual, many thanks to everyone who has the time to listen. Cheers, ROG.

Very, very cool ROG!!! Heard a little Petty, little Floyd, and a trumpet part I never would have thought of trying which worked perfectly. Love the trashy drum vibe you got. Really great all the way around!! Take care. Greg

Rock. That covers a wide area musically.
Cool tune. The vocal FX works. Not in your face, just a touch.
Loved the breakdown to the trumpet.
Nice guitar playing.
I couldn't help thinking of Annie Lennox as I listened.

Sounds like something Ian Hunter might be singing from back in the Mott the Hoople days (ha, ha). Sounds like a good old gem that you mixed up just right. Are the girls still doing music?
Good one. Nice trumpet part and lead work!

ROG, You've done it again. This is a killer track. I never thought the trumpet would work but it does. Good thinking outside the box on that call. Great vocals both lead and bg. Super guitar playing. The mix is outstanding with the bass occupying a great spot sonically. Rock on Professor!!! Tom

Hi ROG,
Well, we really dig this vocal effect! Backing vocals are great too. The song has got a very nice drive to it. We also like that subtle chorus guitar. The 494 RT is a good choice for the solo, especially followed by that great guitar solo!

Hi ROG,
Just got home from hospital after major surgery. This is my first listen since coming home. When I saw your screen name, it caught my eye immediately. Power Rock Ballad is about as close as I could define this by genre. But it just ROG ...nuff said!
Nor feeling real good so didn't read any of the previous comments. Forgive me if something might be repetitive:
1. Cool vocal FX 2. Perfect vocal harmonies 3. Bass line really drives this one for me 4. Trumpet was an interesting but unexpected choice. Very cool! 5. FX stabs were the icing and a delicious cake. 6. As always, guitar work, arrangement, mixing and production were as close perfect as one could expect.
Loved it! Best to you,
Alan

Hey ROG, Apologies... I've just noticed that I haven't commented on this song. I first listened to it a week or so ago and I thought I'd commented then. This is brilliant. You've really raised the bar here. Everything about this first rate. At the end of the music journey, the first thought that popped into my head was "ROG really knows his stuff!" A terrific listen! All the best, Noel

Rog, everything that I wanted to say already has been said!
When I started listening I said how in hell is a trumpet going to fit in this song? Well you did make it fit and you made it fit very well! Kind of like a smooth jazz lead to a rock song.
You have helped get the bar a little higher here!

Hi Mario. Many thanks for the kind review. That break-down section was originally going to have a vocal in it, but I couldn't get it to work. I tried a few solo instruments which I wasn't happy with and generated the trumpet without really expecting it to work myself. Sometimes, you just get lucky! Hi Rog,
I've really enjoyed this one ! Nice guitar solo, cool vocals, drums, and the mix is very very good.

Wow! Tom Petty in your face!! (in a good way) Really loving those effects and the guitar is superb. Cool interlude with the trumpet RT.
Another one for our SC playlist.

Tom Petty came to mind for me as well. That opening guitar sets this song up perfectly. It's a very artistic production with a lot of interesting fx, dynamics and shifts. Love those background vocals. Technical and musical, if that makes any sense:) Thoroughly enjoyed it. Going back for another listen....

Technical and musical? Yeah, that makes sense and I regard it as a complement, thanks. Always been a Tom Petty fan, so that sits well, too. Thanks again for the listen. ROG

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
