Wanted to do one featuring a diminished chord.

https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/if-i-couldnt-cuddle-you

As always any comments / suggestions / criticisms most welcome. Cheers.

RD - Nashville brushes hillbilly swing
Tuba - RT 1792 Dixieland
Piano - RT 771 Miles jazz
Guitar - RT 957 Country boogie

If I Couldn't Cuddle You

You warm me in the morning in the evening too
Cuddles keep the cold out the frosty freezing dew
Winter Springtime Summer and Autumn when I'm blue
Cold would sink my barren bones if I couldn't cuddle you

Better in old winter time than thick hot steaming stew
Some would say we hug much too much but thats not true
If cuddles couldn't keep us warm I don't know what I'd do
Be left out in the crumbling cold if I couldn't cuddle you

In summer when it's hot my heart needs warming through
There's cold that gets in-side somehow some stone cold icy brew
It disappears when you are near and make me feel brand new
Cold would be heart stopping if I couldn't cuddle you

You warm me in the morning in the evening too
Cuddles keep the cold out and the frosty freezing dew
Winter springtime summer and autumn when I'm blue
Cold would sink my barren bones if I couldn't cuddle you

You sing to me a secret song a-bout a bond that grew
And how bright stars were sprinkled down a lonely ave-nue
And how we held each other as those happy years just flew
Wouldn't know warm sweet joy if I couldn't cuddle you

You warm me in the morning in the evening too
Cuddles keep the cold out and the frosty freezing dew
Winter springtime summer too and autumn when I'm blue
Cold would sink my barren bones if I couldn't cuddle you

Cool tune . Love the lyrics. Tuba in background was a nice touch

Richard, This one just made me smile. I couldn't help but think of my sister in Illinois where it is still snowing after getting 16 inches already. I also liked the Tuba and the guitars in the choruses. Good one. Tom

Thanks Scott. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Was a quick write for 50/90 which helps stop me wandering off the subject. Cheers.

Hi Guenter. Couldn't decide what the style was so left it as a hybrid.
The tuba RT's are good fun! Cheers.

Hi Greg.
Shirley-Louise liked it but said 'what's this about a bomb that grew' don't like that bit.
Bond woman, bond, not bomb. Ah well. Cheers.

Hi Rich,

The song made us smile too,
especially (and that is true)
because of all the "oo's"
We bet your wife will like it too
because the song was made by you

laugh

Now that's too funny -

This is one of my favorites from you because speaking of bonding, everything bonded together great. Good instrument choices, the perfect melody, sharp lyrics, the right mix and vocal performance.

It seems the 50/90 has been good for you.

Your ability to take such a mundane subject as cuddling and get all the elements of the song to come together (pun here) was very much in the style of something Paul Mccartney would do in the Beatle years. Similar to his portion of "A Day in the Life"

Rich,
That is a wonderful song!
I like the build for the chorus, if that is what you'd call it!

Woke up to the 1st snow for years this morning, but I'll pass on the cuddles grin

Take care

RichMac, yep, the Tuba really made this song. Gave it some hilarity. Good fun.

Another good song from you Rich. I like the fact that you think that much of your wife to write a song about how much you enjoy her presence. Enjoyed!

This is really good!

Like others I liked the tuba and guitar work. But my favorite were the lyrics. Your vocal matched the lyrics perfectly.

But I will also pass on the cuddles!

Thanks a lot Charlie. I actually ended up spending a lot of time on this one so i'm glad you enjoyed it.
The thing about the 50/90 is after writing 20 or so songs it's what on earth am I going to write about next.
Come to think of it the Beatles had some very weird lyrics. I like their old songs though. Cheers.

Hi Alyn. Really glad you like it.
After so much of the diminished chord I tried to keep the chorus very simple.
Cold weather cuddles and cats all go together I reckon. Cheers.

Well, were glad you were musing on a diminished
chord! Nothing like a cup of joe and some smiles
to go with it. Thank you!

Cool melding of disparate RT's -- worked
very well.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
