s there a way to get BB to pay a chord on the AND beat between say beat 2-3?
I have tried the 8th and 16th pushes on the 2 beat and that doesn't work.
What I am trying to have play is a quick chord change on the AND after the second beat going into the 3rd.
When I leave in on the 2nd beat it sounds very mechanical for lack of a better term.

Just to make sure - a Push in BIAB means that the chord will sound earlier than placed. Push means 'ahead of' or in other words 'before the beat'. To get a chord on the AND of 2, you want to push to be on beat 3. So, try an 1/8th note push on beat 3.
As far as sounding mechanical, other than trying a different drum style, you can experiment with Play menu, Slide Tracks to loosen up the feel of selected instruments. Of course, RealTracks in general sound far less mechanical than do MIDI tracks.

My take on it....
I look for the path of least resistance.
I would know that I'm taking this ultimately to my DAW, Sonar. So I would simply use an audio edit in Sonar to move the chord to the proper place. I know that's not what you're probably looking for, you want to do that in BB, but rather than try to figure that out, I'd simply make the edit later.
To me, BB is a composition tool. RB makes the audio tracks. Sonar makes the project a finished project. You can use one of several methods in Sonar to accomplish the "and" chord flawlessly.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Matt and Guitarhacker...
Great options and advice thank you...
Matt, I was thinking push meant ahead so that explains why when doing pushes in BB it is not sounding how I expect it to, cause it's being played earlier rather than later. Ahhh...I think this may be the answer but we'll see.
Guitarhacker...
Yes I agree with your proposal, however seeing as this feel is throughout the song it would be a bit of a pain...if it was only a few here and there I would likely do exactly what you stated.
Thanks guys..as always quick and great advice.

Ok so the bar looks like this... and C now plays the push correctly, however the G should be on the 3rd note where the ^C now resides.
1 2 3 4 G ^C G
I'm just a quick flip to the C from the G...and musically should look like this, sort of...
1 & 2 & 3 & 4 G C G
So am I SOL?...

Tony, I assume you want chord 3 to last for the remainder of the bar? If so, try changing the third chord to a hold (three dots begind the note name like G...) I don't think BiaB 2015 will recognize a hold on chord 3 or 4 of a bar but it never hurts to try. If that doesn't work then, yes I agree, you're SOL.

Jim is correct. You can have a chord on the beat, or pushed earlier, but not both. And there is a maximum of four chords per measure.

Yes I want the G on the 3rd note (last note) of the bar and the accent/push of the C on the AND of 2.
And I have tried all the combinations I can think of for this so I think it comes down to being a limitation of BB and that I am SOL...
One can only hope that BB 2016 may bring me an answer to this issue.... Thanks guys...

Tony,
I'm going to ask a question. What are you wanting to achieve? Are you using RealTracks? I assume you're trying to get some kind of instrument riff or bass run and that's what you need more than the chords, is that correct?
The reason I ask is, for this one bar, why not switch to midi instead of trying to force a RealTrack to do something it is not designed to do? Once you add effects to the tracks, it may not be that noticable that you switched instruments (real to midi) for one bar. You might be surprised at how well it works.

I also use MIDI to accomplish much even within the RealTracks. There are workarounds. Doubling the number of measures and adjusting the tempo and style can work. There are also aftermarket styles such as those by Notes Norton.

Yes I want the G on the 3rd note (last note) of the bar and the accent/push of the C on the AND of 2. Hi Tony I got a little confused now. if the 3rd note is the last note in the bar, then is this a waltz time signature or do you mean you want the G on the 3rd beat of the bar? Trev

So am I SOL?... No, you are not. Norton Music has EXPANDED styles that allow you to put 8 chords per measure. I can put chords on each of the following beats 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & I wrote these EXPANDED styles exactly for the situation you are talking about. It works by turning each of the BiaB cells in the matrix+ into half measures and creative styles that also tread each BiaB cell as a half measure. You have to double the tempo, but since the EXPANDED style works at half speed, it sounds perfect. Go to http://www.nortonmusic.com/styledemo.html and look for styles with the word EXPANDED In the description. Insights, incites and a few problems solved by Notes

The song is in 4/4 time...
What I am trying to do is have a little push with the C after the first G in beat #1. So it's an eighth note (I believe).
1---2---3---4 G-----C-G---
Think of the song(if you know it) Bo Diddly...those quick changes that happen...
Norton Notes, sounds like you have done some awesome work here, I will check it out...
Thank you

This has been on the list of "top 3 requested items" going back to the beginning. NN solved the problem for midi, but there is little to no fix for Real tracks. That's just the way it is...

Thank you OK, Understand now. I think this will be a little challenging with Real Tracks in the current BiaB, but Notes idea is probably worth pursuing. Trev

If you get a good sound module like the Ketron SD-2 the real tracks and MIDI tracks can coexist just fine.
Pick the best for the song you are working on.
There are advantages to both formats, and IMO there is no reason to throw out one for the other.
EXPANDED styles will do exactly what you want.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
