Grayed out chord entering boxes keep appearing in a chord sheet when I am trying to enter chords. They will then not accept a chord entry, and they are renamed to 16b and 16 will be next to it. I'm sure I'm doing something to cause this and don't know what or how to get rid of the grayed box. Thanks.

Eddie, up in the top you have to tell BIAB how many bars you intend to enter.

OK Thanks guys....
I did that and it will play to that last bar 32 skipping the grayed out box.....but, I still have that gray chord entry box in the lead sheet. I'm sure I clicked somewhere on the lead sheet to cause this, but don't know how to get rid of that bar 16b the gray one. Plays fine but looks odd with bar 32 the last one down on the next line by itself on the left.

Can you upload the file so we can see it or can
you post a picture. Something strange here.

Hey! I just visited Notes website and his free song sample has lots of the gray areas I'm talking about. Just figured a picture is better then all my words.

Those are easy to change - new section markers result in next line.

Go to display options and look to unselect that.

Going to Opt./Preferences/Display I don't see where I can do that. Maybe another "Display options" somewhere else?

I found out that I caused the gray bar by clicking on the small bar number in the lower left corner when I went to enter a chord letter.

My picture is BIAB 2016, but it is there in 2015. And yes, it comes from placing section markers.

Eddie,

If you have an older version of BIAB, the 'new line each part marker' option is probably in Song Settings. Right click on the chord sheet and select "Song Settings". Have a look through the options that pop up.

Regards,
Noel

I have version 2013. I see if I click on a section marker the gray goes away. That straightens out my "song". Thanks for that!! What I was doing is clicking right on top of the small number 16. That caused that bar to gray but still be bar 16. Now I have bar 16b on the next line down. I'm thinking this might be done to make un-normal song line up or display better?

I just spent some time on your site listening to your songs. NICE!!

OK I found song settings "Cntl N" and I see the box to uncheck and that did it. This was mentioned earlier, but I didn't understand the "sections" wording. Thank you for all your time, patience, and help!!

Something still sounds a bit strange, but 2013 was further back than I remember.

Each time you click on a bar number it should change the color and add an a,b (in newer version it also added a c,d). This will toggle until you return to no color/no letter. These are section or part markers. For each one you place a drum fill with occur in the preceding bar (do you hear that?). So folks like to organize different parts of a a song by placing the line at each marker.
Hope that makes some sense.

Sorry I have been away.
Yes, the part markers work just as you said Jazzmandan If I choose 1,5,9,13,etc. But see what happens if you click on bar number 11. Click right on top of the number. In 2013 bars 11,12 will gray out and I think that is to line up the sheet the way the author would like to view it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
