I've started a few threads and have been getting some pretty rude comments. What's up with that? confused

These have even been from people on the forum that I respect!...but start losing a bit with some of the comments.

Don't get me wrong, I have gotten some GREAT GREAT GREAT information when asking about products, but on the music/song writing side...yikes.

I have stayed away from other boards that I saw get that way...not towards me, but in general. I just never joined. You could just see someone ask a question and get slammed for their preference in music. "How does Nickelback get their guitar sound on...?" "Nickelback sucks!" Blah, blah, blah. I always thought WAY less of the person who replied.

I'll chalk it up to the "winter crankies" or something, but respect is a two way street my friends. smile

Yeah, I don't get why people do that either. Nothing to say but they say it anyway and in a smarta$$ way. Of course it doesn't count if you add "just joking!" smile

I even noticed it on the RIP Bowie thread where some folks posted mainly to say they didn't like his music!

What was it our moms tried to teach us? "If you can't say something nice..."

One thing in life I've learned very early at a young age: you don't have to search for arses, they are closer than you think.

I ignore them, as it would get my BP up to high, knowing it's a futile attempt to be nice to them.

Just forget about it! laugh

Cheers,
Mike

HearToLearn,

You’re right about rude comments popping up. Here are some of your comments on another one of your threads on the same day you started this one.

Quote:
Do I reply or not...I guess I will leave it at YOU are one the of the people that I would have expected more from.
Disappointed that I ask a question and get a response like this
Smiley face or not, it really doesn't ad much to the conversation.

Yup Bob that was out of context.

I asked a question about who is writing in a type of music.

One response was they don't like the type of music I am asking about...which I don't get why you would post that... THEN added an example that hijacked the thread and made it about his example. I feel that's pretty rude.

I don't think point that out is rude at all! I think much more of our forum members than that!

The other comment flat out called the kind of music @#$^#...with a smile face. That was their contribution to my question. Was the being nice because there was a smiley face?

I really don't think my response was rude in the least. I addressed what I saw.

I started a new thread to address it from several posts, not all which are mine by any means.

It's probably great advice! I feel mine going a bit higher as I tried to start a thread to address and...once again...seem to be the problem. As I've stated before, in real life, I don't seem to have these issues. It's on here.

Agreed! With that and your post right before it.

Thanks for the reminder! smile

I think I was a bit taken back because they came a bit out of left field for me from people I do respect. They are VERY helpful, and nice people! So, it has me going "huh?"

Not sure if you even read the whole thread but he was reacting to rude comments, not being rude!

He asked a simple friendly question about whether folks here were writing modern country and some people can't seem to keep their noses outta someone else's business even when they have nothing helpful to offer! The thread was not about whether you like modern country or not! Dropping into a thread like that with that attitude is unfriendly trolling plain and simple and the folks who do it should grow the hell up! If they want to start a thread about how they hate modern country or anything else by all means do so! But don't be a jerk when someone is just asking a question! </rant over>

There was nothing wrong with your posts. We just have a troll problem here sometimes! And most of us are usually quiet about it but sometimes it just gets too damn annoying to bear!

You addressed what you saw. The same as anyone else does when they post a comment.

When you post on a public forum, surely you realize other people have the right to respond?

Your definition of being rude and mine are obviously entirely different. If you don’t want to allow other people to chime in with their unwelcome opinions then start a blog that doesn’t have a comment section. Or set it up so the comments can’t be posted until they are approved by you.

From the position of not wanting to hear someone say things you don’t like to hear, … free speech kind of sucks, doesn’t it?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
