Does anyone have any recommendations for a good vst organ? I'm would be using it mostly for country, and heartland rock.
Free is great, but willing to pay as well.
thanks!

You can get a lot of mileage out of GSI's FREE ORANGIzed Trio organ - GIVE IT A TRY http://www.kvraudio.com/product/organized_trio_by_gsiI have more than a few B3 libs, and some very UN-CHEAP ones, but it's sometimes hard to beat some of my old HW synths (especially from my old Alesis QS8/QSR) or the long standing GSI VB3 plug in (same guy who gives you the free - donation ware - ORGANIzed Trio) http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=24but that one is NOT free. Frankly, at that price there will be a lot of arguments made for Kontatk libs, or Dimension Pro & CW Sound Center add-ons , or SampleTank add-ons, or UVI workstation add ons, etc. - like Pianos everyone will have favorites that they swear by Larry

If you're looking for background stuff, it's hard to beat Real tracks in real band....which you already should have. If you're going to cover Deep Purple's Lazy... yeah you'll need a good VST. The free ones are generally one trick ponies and often not very good. http://www.vstplanet.com/Instruments/Organ.htmNot free: http://syntheway.com/master_hammond_b3.htm only $35 and sounds halfway decent from listening to the demos. And it has a free demo you can DL. What you think is good might differ from my opinion. And the ultimate use in a song... as far as the tone and overall sound will vary as to what fits and what doesn't.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I agree with Larry that the ORGANized Trio organ is a versatile instrument.
I've used it for a long time now and think it's superb. The pre-sets are good, but with a bit of tweaking you can get most Hammond sounds out of it. It will even add some B3 distortion and key click if you want it.
Editing is easy, because you've got all the traditional drawbars to work with, so a bit of experimenting usually produces the required result.
Oh, and free is always good.
ROG.

I use my Hammond XK-3c. but before I bought it, I used Kontakt Vintage Organs. not cheap, especially if you don't have Kontakt yet.

Very very cool! Thanks for all of the recommendations. I guess I will use the free, and demo versions and go from there. I know you would all come threw! I use my Hammond XK-3c. laugh True but ME using YOUR Hammond xk-3c would get weird...and be a bit of a drive

I would be more than happy to rent you some time on it just so it wouldn't be "weird" but yeah, the commute would be killer for you cause i don't deliver. Here's another good one I had forgotten about. it used to be cheaper and I have an older version of it that I used before I got Kontakt Vintage organs. http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=24but it's worth the money even at this price cause they've updated it a lot.

I used Organized Trio until I won VB3 in a songwriting contest. VB3 is used inside the clonewheel hardware organ, Mojo.
I don't think there are better old school electromechanical keyboard vsti than what Guido has at GSi.

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
