Would be nice if PG could set up an area for users to list where they are located. I live in Mountain Home, Arkansas in the north central part of the state. I'm locate 3 hours from the nearest interstate highway. Would be nice to know if there is any users withing traveling distance where we could get together once in a while to discuss stuff about BIAB. I would travel to Branson, or Springfield Mo for instance or even Fayeteville, Little rock or Jonesboro Ar on occassion. Would be a way to set up BIAB user groups.

Interestingly, assuming this isn't an April Fool request, PG Music already did that. There was a map of the world with pins where users are located. From this, I learned that MarioD was (at the time) the closest to me (amazingly, no one in New York City at the time).

It fell into disuse but was fun for awhile.

In fact I hosted the User Map page for several years but it got HACKED and I shut it down.

We could try again. Google Maps provides for a features of sharing a map between users. There are several security features we could try.

One being send me a note with your user name and city, state, country and I could place it on a shared map which only those who are on the map can view.

Or we could provide a link and anyone who has the link can edit add them selves. Or anyone who has the link can only view.

Here for example is "the link"
BIAB User Map

You need this link to view but you can not edit. Any suggestions?

I take it that is a -1 for the idea.

You presume correctly (regarding the original request) ...and in fact I almost wrote it that way too, but that looked too much like a typo which could be open to misinterpretation smile

I for one would like to see the map come back. Would be nice if when you clicked on the person it would be able to contain contact info, like email.

Maybe it was, and as long as it's entirely optional, or at least under our own individual control/choice, then fine.
I just don't see what's so hard about just making a simple "Hi, I'm from the town of X if anyone is in my area and want to..." post in the off-topic forum. smirk

Security is now off. Anyone with the link will be able to post their info (add what ever you want to the point you indicate on the map or nothing at all.)

My point just says Jazzmandan, but it does not go to my house (don't need Pat showing up on my doorstep with out letting me know he is coming) Just goes to the town I live in (Chicago).

You need this link to access. Lets see if folks start using it. If it gets Hacked I can shut it down. If it don't work send me a PM and I will check into it. So far 25 folks have viewed the map via the link - so I assume there is some interest.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
