[Link no longer valid]
I had the opportunity to work on an sgu issue in the forum this morning and replicated an sgu file created by forum user Magicaldog. Having replicated his sgu chord chart, I decided to experiment with his chord progression. I found a neat RnB style that included an instrument called a TRES. I am not familiar with this instrument but was satisfied with how it mixed with the Motown uptempo RnB band at the slower 90bpm tempo. The style is designed for 165bpm. I added an original loop I had previously created and a complimentary solo guitar and a few tweaks to the sgu file including some PG dynamics and ended up with this instrumental. The Tres is panned hard left and the loop is panned hard right. The pattern created by the two hard panned instruments create somewhat a "For You Blue" George Harrison vibe to me.
The title is a nod to forum member Magicaldog for his original chord progression.
Enjoy.

Charlie, This is an interesting sound. The loop worked nicely. I hope you keep experimenting. No doubt it will open up many doors. Tom

That all works well together, Charlie.
It sounds like a Mavericks track to me. You could easily put a lyric to that... just keep it running over and over... sing along - and write it down as you go...

hey Charlie, good to see you posting again! The thought occurs to me that if you don't like to sing, I bet you'd have no trouble getting a vocalist to collaborate... you write such nice songs, its almost a shame to make them go without lyrics!

Hope you've been having fun on your journeys. Good to see you back. That is the first loop I've made that actually worked and I'm glad to get to use it in a project. I've also downloaded some free loops and hope something comes from that too. Appreciate your comments.

floyd Thanks Floyd. The very first thing my wife said when she heard it the first time this morning was that it needed lyrics. Listening back, it does fit with the Mavericks. They are an old favorite of mine. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for listening. Yea, the Brent solo sounded good with the chord progression as soon as I auditioned it.

The tres sound worked well with the loop once they were panned hard right and left from each other. The guitar solo was a nice contrast.

Charlie An enjoyable instrumental - nice progression and melody. Thanks. I enjoyed how the progression transitioned through the Bm11 and looking back at the thread, Peter Gannon recommended that the poster not use such a specific chord and that BIAB would make better and more musical transitions with Bm7 as that chord. Oh well, he's surely correct, but the Bm11 was working for me today. Glad you enjoyed the song.

Thanks for listening Pat. My wife has offered to help me write lyrics for this song. She was writing thoughts down on an envelope as we were riding down to the beach this morning. I haven't been writing much lately but since Christmas I've been trying to use BIAB for practice tracks and improve on my guitar playing.

I have to agree that you could put lyrics to this! Man, this songs just has "that feel" that I l-o-v-e, love. I have never figured out why, it's haunting yet confident. That probably makes no sense, but great song you've got here! Thanks for the share!

That probably makes no sense, but great song you've got here! Thanks for the share! I'm glad you like the song and I plan to rework the structure for lyrics, a instrumental turn around and possibly a bridge. Hopefully I'll retain 'that feel'. I think the original chord progression by Magicaldog was so he could practice Jazz guitar. Thanks for taking time to listen and comment.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
