I purchased a used TASCAM US-122 USB audio interface. Tascam's website offers drivers for 32 and 64 bit XP and Vista operating systems. The computer I'm hoping to switch to uses 64 bit Windows 7 so my questions are:

Is anyone using a TASCAM US-122 interface with a computer running 64 bit Windows 7?

If so, what installation steps did you follow to get it to work?

Howdy.....

I don't use the device you refer to but thought I search a bit out of curiosity.

I found this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/28708-tascam-us-122-a.html

Specifically...post #3 and post #8 but there's (3) pages that may offer more guidance.

Hopefully that will work for you.

Good luck....

chulaivet1966,

Thank you for taking time to perform a search and share the link. I'm not too thrilled with my purchase so far.

I've asked this same question in several music forums. Hopefully someone will have the interface and real world experience to share.

The drivers are what makes it work or not. So as long as the driver is available in 64 bits, it should work just fine.

If course... this is advice from someone still running a 32 bit system.

Jim,

It would appear that Tascam never wrote drivers for that model. You might try loading the XP/64 drivers and just see if it works.

If it doesn't, you could try running in Compatibility Mode.

Hope this helps.

Herb and Bob,

Thank you for your replies.

I still have my 32 bit XP desktop but have been investigating upgrading to a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop.

I've spent a lot of time and effort installing the Windows 7 and updating to current time so I don't want to add anything that is not rock solid.

I figure if it turns out the interface either doesn't work or is problematic then I'll not even try it on the Win 7 laptop and just set it up on the XP desktop.

I have a Tascam USB 122 and it ony works with XP which I discontinued on my main machine. They make a newer model that works with 7, but I had to stop using the one I bought for my XP rig. No compatible driver upgrade. I still use the Tascam with an XP latop or two I have though for quick portable jobs so it still has a purpose.

Anyway, for Windows 7 I bought a Scarlett Focusrite and am happy. It is a very good audio interface. Excellent sound.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
