Rob,
flipping heck! your vocal gymnastics on delight!
you are one hell of a composer and performer
Alyn Well, that about covers it! You are one multifaceted artist. The write, production and vocals on this production are quite the outlier from a lot of your productions but, man, does it all every work. Excellent. And thanks for introducing that guitar RT solo...lot of possibilities there! J&B Thanks guys! As always appreciated! Yes, this particular soloist offers lots of possibilities for all kinds of styles. I had never tried it before, but will definitely try it again in more songs. Rob

Extremely creative and well done!! You never fall into generic chord progressions but your music always works very well-not easy to achieve! Vocals are superb-even better than your normal great vocals. Very high quality production in every way!! Take care. Greg

Rob, this is outstanding! Your vocals always amaze me. I agree that there is a bit of a Neil Diamond vibe in this. You nailed the vocals. So good, and so versatile.

Vocals are superb-even better than your normal great vocals. Very high quality production in every way!! Take care. Greg Rob, this expresses my feelings as well, and yet, as a jazz buff who is always looking for that little something extra, I feel that I must add more. I was particularly impressed with the care you took in seeking out and exploring the sub-dominant tonalities lying within the stolen chords borrowed from adjacent key signatures. While I suspected you would throw a cadential subdominant chord followed by a tonic chord in places just to produce a plagal nod to conventional resolution, you did not and I congratulate you for it! Not content to just add a Maj7 and say “Hey that’s Jazz, let’s call it a day” you carefully took the time to construct a melodic chord progression with the serpentine but confident grace of a Thelonius Monk, while still allowing for devilish atonal comparisons to the verbal nuances of the lyric sounds themselves. But you didn’t stop there! Reveling in the cornucopia image to which the song’s key imagery was aligned, you added the extra to the extra by choosing notes that might seem random at times, had they not come from the rich tonal basket of post-modern jazz, thus allowing you to be not only in sync with the art form, but ahead of it at the same time. To me, the jazz was jazzy man, and I totally dig it. My good friend the jazz critic at the Times says to say “hi” and did you receive the bottle of Veuve Cliquot he sent a few weeks ago along with the Monet etchings. We have to jam sometime.

Thank you Greg!
Such a positive comment, I'm flattered ;-)
Thank you Steve, much appreciated! I'm doing my best to be versatile, it's actually not very hard with such a beautiful program :-)
David,
Man, what an analysis of my song and what a music knowledge you have! I didn't know I could write like that ;-) Just kidding, your comment is really appreciated! My theoretical knowledge of music is next to none. I play guitar and a little bit of keyboard. And I usually try to avoid Jazzy chords ;-) But in this case I wanted to merge a jazz song into the contest. Actually I created this in just one evening. Came very naturally. The song's concept itself was based on Leonard Cohen's later work (tried to emulate his 'smokey' voice). Oops, I'm a smoker myself.....
"My good friend the jazz critic at the Times says to say “hi” and did you receive the bottle of Veuve Cliquot he sent a few weeks ago along with the Monet etchings." No I didn't, but he probably doesn't have my address ;-) Yes, let's do a duo song sometime. Rob

Sure, let's do it man!! I guess the short version of my post is that you were REALLY unconventional with this, and that is what jazz is all about!! So, yeah, let's do something together sometime!!

Hm, almost missed this one. Very good Rob. Yep some Neil Diamond sound going on there (although it sounds that you can go higher than him)Great song all around.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
