Hi all, I am discovering that re-mastering existing midis is great fun. So you take a half decent midi and split it into several tracks. Then you replace some of the tracks with realtracks and some with Hi-Q and some with supertracks. Thus I discovered a really cool sound that kind of make my new arrangement. I used 1806: Synth Pad with a voice oohs midi patch. (at least that is what I think I did!). I did this on the strings track. Now when I export this to MP3, I get everything, except that one track. It's just not there.... Now VST and DXi are things I know exactly nothing about, so if you are going to steer me in that direction I might have to spend days educating myself. Also I know enough about midi to be dangerous. Advice anyone?

I have had more success recording songs with midi tracks than with rendering. I have the free audio recording program Audacity setup so that it will record any sound from my computer. I play my BIAB song and Audacity records it. I know while I'm recording exactly how the finished product will sound.
I have attempted to render files in the past with muted midi or realtracks and when I playback after rendering, the muted tracks would be included.
I sometimes use an external Roland Soundcanvas and that has to be recorded rather than rendered so I have got into the habit if doing all midi recordings with Audacity.

Something to think about. Hi all, I discovered a really cool sound that kind of make my new arrangement. I used 1806: Synth Pad with a voice oohs midi patch. (at least that is what I think I did!). I did this on the strings track. Now when I export this to MP3, I get everything, except that one track. It's just not there.... In order to "export to MP3" you need to render the midi track. In order to do this you need to "know about VST and Dx" Now VST and DXi are things I know exactly nothing about... Advice anyone? If you are hearing the midi track from your speakers from BIAB and you are not using an external synthesizer, then you already have a VST or Dxi up and running. But if this was the case the track should render when you export mp3??

If you are hearing the midi track from your speakers from BIAB and you are not using an external synthesizer, then you already have a VST or Dxi up and running. But if this was the case the track should render when you export mp3?? That is what I thought Dan. If I disable the "Use VST..." in the midi preferences, I don't hear the super midi tracks in BAIB. It also does not render in this case. But when the VST option is enabled, I can hear all the tracks. But when exporting to MP3 (which I believe is what is referred to by "rendering" ) the strings track is not there???

There is another clue which I did not mention: The Piano track also has a midi super track, and it works fine, pretty good, actually.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
