A co-write with Lisa Gundling.
Because it is a song from the perspective of sisters, and it sounds funny when I sing the princess line...
I asked my sister-in-song to sing this for us.

Again, a Giant Thank You to Janice Merritt!!

MY DADDY'S KNEE

the land was flat when my daddy bought it
an acre needing tending behind our new home
back property line was a forest of pine
miles of trees where we kids could roam
free dirt from a neighbor
that truck dumped a windfall
dad grabbed his wheelbarrow
and started to haul

   for years he worked hard
   to transform that yard
   a realm for his princesses
   to oversee
   my sister and i
   apples of his eye
   sharing the perfect throne
   my daddy's knee

shovel by shovel he built our kingdom
three terraced levels with stepping stone stairs
we were all so fond of his little round pond
half hidden alcoves tucked everywhere
a big bamboo patch
three trees full of cherries
lopsided rock bench
you should have seen the fairies!

   repeat chorus

i can still see the look on his face
the gleam in his eye for that magical place

   repeat chorus

Hi Floyd and Lisa.

With so many songs having similar story-lines, it's really nice when someone comes up with something new.

This is SO original and yet at the same time, so engaging and so absorbing.

As usual, Floyd, a super backing and so professional.

As usual, Janice, I'm entranced by your captivating voice.

Beautiful.

To all you 3:
This is lovely!
ROG hit the mark on all points- I can only add that, as a career landscaper and builder of the family garden, this is the song I wish my kids had written for me!

Man, this is about as pro-as it gets!
Again a crystal-clear mix.
This also must be Janice's best vocals so far.

A Keeper!!

This is a great vehicle for Janice's great vocals. It's so in the pocket. Professional in every way. Great mix and production. Have to send some kudos out to Bud - Vocals are so crystal clear.

A nice storyline, mindful a bit of Holly Dunn or even something Tom T. Hall would have written in the day.

I think this would have worked as a bluegrass tune as well.

Enjoyed it from start to finish.

The first thing that hits me is the sweetness of this song.

Love the melody and great vocals as always by Janice.

So beautifully written!! This is what country music always tries to achieve and doesn't always get there. It is sweet and sincere but not sappy or trite. It is a tribute to the father, a tale of hard work to make a dream come true, and a heartfelt love of a girl for her father. BEAUTIFUL!! AND, Janice kills it, of course-awesome vocal! Great stuff guys! Take care. Greg

Hello, floyd

Very lovely song with a little folk rock feeling.
The chord progression of I - VIm - IV - V7 is the royal road of pops.
Very straight and favorable fitted to this tune.
Great vocals as always by Janice.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks, ROG! Lisa deserves all the credit for the originality of the storyline - it was her childhood we were writing about and she had most of the structure of those ideas set up to begin with...

This is as professional as you can get!

Lisa, Floyd and Janet, you all should be very proud of this.

If I heard this in a CD shop I would have bought it immediately.

Of course this is a keeper.

Charlie - I agree! Janice did a heck of a job on this! And references to Dunn and Hall seem right on the money (and appreciated) - Lisa's eye for detail is a big part of that - she is a very intelligent writer.... Thanks for stopping in...

What an excellent listen!

From start to finish this held my attention. A terrific write and really well arranged and produced! Once again I find myself thinking "top notch in every way!"

All the best to you both,
Noel

P.S. I'm very sorry that it took me so long to get to this.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
