Hi guys, I noticed something strange. I have audiophile, so I updated the realtracks (RTs) with the latest update, the one that came out a few days ago. I downloaded the large patch (1.2 gig) for Audiophile users, as PG says that "a few wav files have been updated". So, I run the update, and when watching all the files being updated I see a bunch of wma files but no wav. I thought I could be wrong because the file names appear so quickly that maybe I missed some. But I wanted to verify. So, after the update, I went to the RT folder, and I did a search for all the wav files (search *.wav). After that, I put them in order of "date created" and, to be sure, also in order of "date modified". Indeed, the latest dates I see for wav files is december 9th, well before the shipment date of my hard drive. So, that was strange.
So I tried to dig deeper. I went to the folders where I knew there had to be some updates, according to the update log on the update web page. For example: - in ALL the shots that were suppsed to be updated, which is 324 and 340-341-342- .... 349, I see wma files but no wav files at all. They're just missing. - in the shot 350 there is a wav file, but it's very old (april 2016). I'm not sure about realtracks, cause it's not clear if the actual audio files were supposed to be updated or not. But, for sure, it seems that the patch is not updating all those shots, since the wav files are not there.
Then I ran the update again. Same results. This time I paid more attention and I could notice a LOT of shots and holds being udpated, but all wma files, no wav (as far as I can tell from the file names appearing quickly during the update). I'm probably missing something or doing something wrong but ... I just can't find these newly updated wav files. Can anybody explain? PG, please?

Thanks, there was a bug with that audiophile patch - the wave files were placed in the main Library folder instead of the Library\Holds folder. To fix, select those misplaced folders - Holds_324 etc. (about 10 folders) - and drag them into the Holds folder. The patch has been fixed.

Hello Andrew.
I checked; folders holds 324,341 and 342 "holds" no wav's, only WMA. Holds 340 does however. Now i cannot find the missing hold files inside my L:\BIAB 2017\Realtracks\Library folder. I re-downloaded the large jan 2017 update file, reinstalled it, still the same ... Are there no WAV files but only WMA's for these holds? regs, F

Are you installing to the original hard drive or did you install/copy files to your computer hard drive?

Hello Andrew .... i have a separate BIAB drive, L:\BIAB 2017\ as installation drive, and the installer showed the correct paths, L:\BIAB 2017\, L:\BIAB 2017\Realtracks\ and L:\BIAB 2017\Drums\. I like to keep the original BIAB WD drive as it was delivered, saved my days before being able to find missing stuff. PS i checked if something ended up in an eventual C:\bb\; nothing there. F
A PS, I found the same happenings with BIAB 2015 audiophile; we had the same discussion then. I installed the Jan 2017 audiophile patch to my BIAB 2017 USB drive, and YoHo !, behold, the wavs installed there. Done some file copying, and it works. !?!? regs, F

Hi Andrew thank you for your help, however the updated patch did not solve the problem, at least for me. I downloaded again the new patch (I guess it's been fixed as you said), and installed again, with admin privileges. I still see nothing installed in the library folder (that was true for me even with the old patch, I couldn't find the wav files anywhere), and I still don't see the wav files in the holds folders, where they're supposed to be. Suggestions? thanks!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
