Please note: countryjoe is a troll, same person posting under multiple forum names, sometimes participating in the same threads under two names. (note that forum admins get additional info about posts, so this is easy to determine)

It is disappointing to me when a regular user decides to adopt an alter ego like this. Especially when they are using this alter ego to insult people.

Anyway, countryjoe (and your other forum names), please grow up. To everyone else, please ignore him(s).

Thank you Peter for letting us know.

It's not the first time a user has taken multiple user names on here. It's rare that that an owner of a forum would step forward with a post like yours.

I appreciate it, as I'm sure a lot of other users do.

Thanks Peter,

Very disappointing that the great team of genuine members here occasionally gets exposed to non-genuine outsiders with 'undesirable' directions.

I have often wondered about both the quality and direction of the posts from that cj fellow. Shame on you cj. Very poor standards...

Thanks for the tip-off

Many thanks, Peter.

This is a great forum and it's a shame that it should suffer by the actions of individuals with unclear motives.

Thanks, Peter.

I couldn't follow his logic anyway. Hopefully he'll get his dosage adjusted.

I sincerely appreciate the excellent job that you and the moderators are doing to keep these PG Forums a pleasant family place to visit for music discussion, friendly, innocent banter, friendly exchanges of encouragement, and wholesome fellowship.

Trolls stick out like a proverbial sore thumb and don't last long. Thanks again for your diligent housekeeping.

I was an admin of a board and a mod on a couple of others. Trolls are very taxing and often time consuming. I was always amazed that even with different names and/or proxie IP's their identity was always obvious. I recall banning the same guy three times!

Thank you for keeping this board community oriented and a pleasant internet spot to hang out.

I have seen this happen a few times in the cakewalk forum. The admin's would delete the user and block his IP if it really presented a problem. And through the years, several got handed that treatment.

Peter,

Have you figured out who "Country Joe" is? Is doesn't take the CIA or a forensics lab to figure it out.

Look at the language in the MP3 lunatic ravings. Look closely at the vernacular. He has given himself away. There is only one place in the world where this language lines up. He is your customer. You have his address. You know where he lives. Look closely. I am sure you have already figured it out.

Drunk people leave sloppy trails.

PGM already know who this undesirable is. Peter already mentioned:"countryjoe is a troll, same person posting under multiple forum names, sometimes participating in the same threads under two names. (note that forum admins get additional info about posts, so this is easy to determine)"

I remember may years ago when the forum was seriously trolled, apparently as part of some weird social experiment that did nothing but result in discord, anger, and confusion.

I just don't understand the motivation behind doing such things.

Good riddance! Thanks, Peter!

Well, assuming the frequent ...ellipses in each of their posts... are the pretty clear give away, along with lower case forum names that start with "c", and the seemingly drunken rants at times, I'm pretty sure that countryjoe's alter ego was just as vulgar in his postings.

I remember that as well John, but I always assumed that the introduction of the troupe of players, and the explanation that it was a social experiment was also part of the con job on us. It was just one perverted troll who was playing all the parts and just jerking everyone's chain for his own amusement. There was no social experiment. That was just said as one final twist of the knife.

Did he, or was that part of the fictitious persona? It was a college sociology class project on how to alter the dynamics on a forum.

When I was a mod on another board we gave a warning, then a 3 day suspension and then kaboom. The procedure for the outcomes (suspension and ban) were built into the software. We made very judicious use of it but it was effective.

even though I've been on this forum for years, I don't remember this incident; but I've always been sort of intrigued by the topic of group dynamics, especially as related to forum stability.

The behavior here is a textbook example of how to make a forum work, and I'm almost surprised to hear that somebody was able to come in and disrupt it easily. Does anybody recall what the guy did?

He was rude, argumentative and generally disruptive. Picking arguments simply for argument's sake.

His sentence structure was as if he were DUI (TUI = Typing under the influence) but the worst was his attitude. Boastful and belittling of some respected regulars.

Couldn't have been any worse than the old Romanian lady who used to sit outside one of the larger stores here busking with accordion in hand, she couldn't play a single note, just pulled the bellows in and out, probably felt that people wouldn't really notice as they were in too much of a hurry.

Ah ha so that's where she went, across the Irish sea; A similar lady was here a few years ago and was often accompanied by another on a one stringed guitar (proper string) played with a plastic fork.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
