In working on a project i usually study some of the demos to review the capabilities of Mac's 2016 version of the Band in a Box.

I found in a Demo ( _POLKASP Demo - Old World Polka w Spoons ) the selection for RealDrums for this demo song as noted in the selection for real drums [from style] " spoonsTradPolka and no real drums override in this song ".

How is that done ? i.e. real drums from a style

And, how do i find that set to possibly use that particular drum set in other songs ?

I used the stylepicker.

I filtered my search using your term, Old World Polka w Spoons.

The RealDrums is called SPOONSTRADPOLKA. The spoons RealDrums track is also in the style _ACCORD.

I could have also found it using the RealDrums picker.

If you have a style in mind, create a song, use the style, import the drums into the song then save the style with a new style name.

See the photo below.

This method of making your own styles has been confirmed as NOT working on the Mac end.
Just thought that needed to be said.

Eddie,

Are you saying that is I load a style that uses one RealDrums track (call it RD1 as an example) in the drums instrument track, then replace that track with another RealDrums track (call it RD2 as a second example) and save the style under a new name that the new name style will load RD1 instead of RD2?

I'm suggesting replacing the ReadDrum selection with another RealDrum selection, not using two RealDrum selections at the same time.

Nothing even that specific. I'm saying that attempting to get the program to recognise that there is a *new* style at all by using this "Take one RT style, change the RT's and save under new style name" method doesn't work on our end.
Doesn't matter if it's RT or RD, this method for adding/making a style just does not work.

Wow! That's astonishing. Has the issue ever been addressed as a wishlist request? It would get my support even though my computer is not a Mac.

I must admit had to pause at this question for a moment for I'm not quite sure what your presumption was when you thought to ask this.
To my mind an issue like this one is precisely the kind of thing that goes into that whole "This should work as it does on the other end" pack - and you (hopefully!) do know those lines of requests have been made in bunches and bunches smirk
I honestly don't remember in what particular section of the forums I first saw this particular thing being established. But I do know PGM has been made aware of it, and is aware of it, if that was your intended question.

My intent is to support the wishlist request if the request is ever made.

Well yes, that much I did grasp from your previous reply, and the sentiment is of course appreciated, no question.

To try clear the apparent confusion: The bit that "made me pause" about your earlier reply was never your 'intention', but rather your apparent presumption that we on the Mac end had somehow known about this for years and yet never made any attempts to get it corrected(?!) confused

Again, they were made aware of it and they did acknowledge it, years ago...if anything, so long ago they just may have lived to have forgotten it crazy
So you see, your well intended sentiment comes at least 3-4 releases after the fact (roughly the time since I first saw this issue confirmed), as I tried to explain - but it's most certainly appreciated nonetheless smile

Eddie,

I appreciate your reply. I am not trying to appear combative to you. I realize from personal experience how easy it is for knowledge to be overlooked or forgotten. I believe a wishlist request helps to minimize that issue.

I believe a wishlist request serves as a public record that helps everyone remember. If nothing else a request allows the requester to bump the request back up to the top again anytime they want. Forum users can help clarify a wishlist request by asking questions and discussing a request. Users can support a request by giving a +1. Likewise users may bring up issues concerning the request the original requester may not have been aware of or considered.

Most of all though a wishlist request helps PG Music determine when an issue was first noticed.

And (one more time) I'm telling you: We did just that.

The particular one I remember reading wasn't mine, however, nor did I personally take part in it, which makes finding it that much harder.
I for one would much rather come up with new things and ideas, than keep digging that 'hole of neglected stuff' with a bloomin' teaspoon.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
