If you've got a little more than just a semblance of jazz chops and want to float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, try this...

Download and Sync "the best of" Real Tracks, including a good sampling of bass syles, trio styles and mix in a good helping of Terry Clark styles (for every occassion)...into your phone...that's right, that little bitty 1" by 3" wafter-thin "number" you keep in your shirt-pocket....

There are many more things to do than simply listening to your fav Miles, Torme, Tony Bennedetto album on that mini-entertainment center of yours....that traveling I-pod or Nokia 5310 miny-music machine...that's what I'm talkin' bout!! Spare me the weight of real musicians and instruments!!

For instance, last night I just slipped a blank 2-gig micro chip into my Nokia 5310, downloaded 2-Gigs of PG Real Track musicians into it, grabbed one of my light weight acoustic jazz guitars, slung it over my shoulder. Then, with the "music-phone" safely tucked into my shirt pocket I snatched up my Behringer 160 Watt Bass amp and went "uptown", to the city of Melbourne, Florida.... to audition at a few new clubs.
Arriving at the first non-entertainment (yet) nightspot, I gingerly put the Nokia on top of the Bass
Amp, plugged the Nokia into the amp, the guitar into the amp....and spread all the "invisible musicians" around the stage, just where I wanted...for this was to be a truly unusually-talented
group auditioning at this "dive"!!

INSTANT jazz gig scene....RIGHT ON, MY BROTHER!!!! .... with some of the best musicians available to the local populace.

One after another, syncopated snares, driving hi-hats, with stand-up bass, comping and soloing invisible cats, wailing non-stop and without holding back, or missing a single swinging beat....emerged and lit up the evening with the best of jazz combo music!!

....then came even more of the real tracks with unbelievably great horn and sax soloists, whilst "drummer Clark" was gently tapping out every fourth beat with his stick on the snare's edge.

Hey man....it's a real pleasant surprise to drop by a local club down by the wharf, only to discover that you and your date have been transported to Birdland in NYC or Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse, along the west coast highway!!

"Vibes???"....not only good ones floating throughout this new jam-packed "jumping scene", but real "vibes" to boot, too....!!! By the way, she murmurs...."Is Terry Gibbs here, too???

Wow!
And, wow again!!!

And, just wait for the new, new tracks come to add more swinging backgrounds to the Real Performing Musician!

Actually, I "see the future", and it just ran over me and my wheelchair.
Nevertheless, as it becomes more and more evident that I should have stuck with the smallish piccallo, which I played ocassionally in the 7th Army Band...
Let's see, I have two torn rotator cuffs, a 21-year old triple bypass (where two of the three stopped working by the end of '87), FOUR ex-wives, that only managed to throw twenty or thirty of my musical instruments against the nearest wall,
three heavy keyboard amps, a slightly heavy bass guitar amp,
a 17 Aluminum canoe that I can "almost" manhandle up and off my Ford Pickup...well, I could go on, like the two herniated disks in the lower back that I got years ago as a plasterer!!

So I'm still attempting to perfect my Holly-Go-Lightly approach to cutting down on the gig-instrument tonnage.

Now, I've bitten the bullet for a 32-gig touch Ipod...now when I get I request, I'll just let my fingers-do-the-walking (swooshing) across the screen till I stab the right song and send it remotely back to my invisible-PG-pro-sidemen, and
out the PA. Just wondering if I can hire a "Grip" to lug my lazy-boy to the next gig!

You've just hit right out of the ball park, GDaddy

For me: Just turned 50, on 10Xth g/f (Yeah, that's 101+, I've totally lost count now). No kids. No house. No mortgage. No finance plan. No money. My heart has been broken more times than I care to mention...BUT

I have my dreams and I have my talent - Man! Its getting weird around here...

And, as the Austrians would say, 'Nah und?' That means...

SO WHAT

Follow that dream (see below)

BTW - you have reminded me that I don't actually LISTEN to music anymore, unless I feel obliged to. No, that don't tell it true. I listen to it all the the time. I don't know what I'd do if it wasn't there. Even tonight with my best friend I was sitting there, strumming on an empty beer can as if I couldn't care. I'm not a drummer nor a strummer but music is in my blood. And if I'm given the opportunity, I just can't get enough

Time was, I went around listening constantly to my 'influences' (Chuck Berry, The Stones, etc) in earplugs but somehow I gave up along the way. Same thing with my guitar playing - had to find somebody to play with on the same wavelength (I can't jam - except for 12 bar). That too is 'on hold'.

Felt beat when Garth Brooks grabbed my side of the street and started singing the songs I wanted to put out there.

So, make a song out of that GDaddy and I'lll work it with you. OK?

Man! This answer reminds me of Tom Cruise in Top Gun - I feel the need, the need for LYRICS!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
