Today I tried something I've never done before in all the years I've played around with BiaB. I tried recording an audio track along with a chord progression I wrote, to which I've assigned a style -- obviously. Well, the first time I played the song back, everything was fine. I recorded my guitar through one channel in my interface, and after poking around for a bit, I found under "Edit Audio" the "Convert Channels" command, which gave me audio on both sides of my headphones.
Then I did a take two. Playback this time was entirely different. The pitch of the notes I played was exactly an octave lower and as near as I can determine the tempo of my playing had been reduced by half. So it sounds like what I used to do with the old record players that had that 17 setting where I'd slow down my LPs so I could hear more clearly the fast licks a guitarist played. That is, both pitch and tempo had been reduced by the same amount. But only the audio.
I've looked all through the menu selections under the Audio tab and thought I finally found something under the Plugin selection, called Pitch Shift. So I set it to bump up the audio one octave. It had no effect on the recorded track.
So I dumped the track and tried again. And voila! Back to correct pitch and tempo. But just to make sure, I dumped the latest track and recorded another take. OK, so it recorded at the correct pitch, so whatever the gremlin was that attacked my process, it appears to have been scared off -- for now.
So what I want to know is what did I do that caused this? You know, so I know what not to do again.
Nope, didn't go there. Like I mentioned above, it was a spontaneous occurrence. I was just wondering if it might have been something I'd done inadvertently. An accidental mouse click on the wrong icon, or something.
In fact, to correct the issue, I did use a transpose function to bump it up an octave.
I get a similar result sometimes when I've processed audio through the ACW and import it into BIAB and do not choose the option to also import the tempo map.
For instance, a song the ACW may determine to average tempo to be 86 bpm. If I import the song and do not select import tempo map, the imported audio which the 86 bpm is the correct tempo will play as if it's playing half speed. Import it with the tempo map and everything is fine.
Not sure there's a relationship to Cooltouch's issue but very similar results.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
