Skin-Tight
(That’s right, I said it)
John Kenney

https://soundcloud.com/j-kenney/skin-tight

(special guest appearance on lead guitar by one of my old buddy's from our younger days Mr. Kenny Leverett)

Lately ~ you’ve been on my mind
ain’t it clear ~ I finally crossed the line
Everything you do ~ keeps me on my toes
Now there’s lightning everywhere lord I’m so exposed

Lets go down to the river tonight
I believe the danger’s ~ gonna get skin-tight

Baby ~ with the way you stroll
the last thing on my mind ~ is any self control
Won't be long before I lose my grip
cos you're the elderberry jam when it's laid on thick

Lets go down to the river tonight
I believe the danger’s ~ gonna get skin-tight

lead

Lets go down to the river tonight
I believe the danger’s ~ gonna get skin-tight

If sugar’s always sweet ~ why'd you make me cry
I still can't find the words when I see those eyes
You know I'm not the kind to kiss and tell
but without my baby’s arms it's cold as hell

So lets go down to the river tonight
Cos I believe the danger ~ wants to get skin-tight

Ooooh you got me now…………..

John

Very nice blues - with a Stevie Ray Vaughan feel. Liked the chorus and overall sound.
Nice additional guitar by Kenny.
Enjoyable.

If sugar’s always sweet ~ why'd you make me cry

that's such a great line, don't know if you lifted it

or thunk it up on yer own, but I think it's so good.

Lots of good lines, phrases, not as laid back as your usual self

SRV rocker, think my part could've been better, slicker

there some highlights, some clams

Fantastic vocals

good un

Kenny

I love the groove of this, jyonks! It had me moving in my seat smile My first thought is how nicely this would sound at a good live venue - its got that sort of vibe to me. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Deryk

That was awesome! Hats off to both of you dudes!

I really like your Mark Farner vibrato, and it wouldn't have hurt my feelings if you had used it to the point of cliche in this song

(Vibrato on the word "BABY" in the second verse is a good example of what i could stand to hear a lot more of!)

I also like the energetic interjections leading into the solo!

Did Kenny play the recurring guitar groove? (not the chords, but SRV style run that plays in the background through the whole song) ... I love the tone in that clip!

I like all of the RT you used in this song, so please post a little info about them

Great job! (all around!)

Kenny Played the Lead.....
The other guitar stuff was Biab....but I lost the particulars over the years or I sure would have cited them.
It was a while back and I have had operating system woes

Thanks for the compliments....it was a spur of the moment recording.....(no over-thinking, one of my fatal flaws)

It didn't hurt that we rocked out together long ago live when we was youngn's

As close to live as I ever got in a bedroom recording

John / Kenny,

What a great tune! You guys sound great - everything is so tight. The vocals, guitars lines and mix is really excellent.

Bob

I have to agree with Deryk. The first thing I also thought of was how great it would sound live. I would not to hear this played at a venue!

Man, that SRV groove is great! Got that cool push to it.

Throw in some fine vocals and picking and you've got a great package.

Enjoyed it!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
