Love BIAB. Would like to see Real Bass added to the program, in the styles of Ron Carter, Ray Brown, John Pattucci etc., for acoustic bass........Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Jaco etc., for electric bass. Later, Ray

I had the same thought.
Real Bass would be fantastic (though with my forum name you'd think I'd want to play the bass part myself).

And as long as were listing specific names: bass g-d Jack Casady. That would be hot.

I think you are already working on it, but please, allow us to choose between wma or uncompressed (and without effect) realbass versions with no added costs

Hi Sergio,

I understand that we can do that right now if we like with the current RealInst files.

When you install, the installer creates both .wma and .wav files in your RealInst folders.

By default, BIAB2008 will use the .wav files -- if they are there.

If it finds only .wma files of the same name as the corresponding .wav files instead, it will then convert and load the .wma files on the fly. This can take a little bit longer to load each song, of course.

You can try this easily enough, open up one of the RealInst folders and move all of the .wav files out of it temporarily, then start up BIAB and try loading some songs that use those files.

Happy New Year!

I have to admit that I'm disappointed that we didn't get Real Bass in Biab 2008. It seems like the next logical step after Real Drums. I'm sure they are working on it and I'll buy it as soon as it does become available. Maybe we'll get a 2008.5 update that will include it.

I agree RealBass would seem like the next logical step. I hope that they come out with this soon.

I don't agree. I really hope PG Music is not wasting their time recording a mess of bass tracks. I don't mean to trash the idea, but I think bass is one instrument (along with piano) that tends to sound ok with samples. There are so many instruments that don't (trumpet, sax, pedal steel), I can't see why they would waste time with the ones that do.

I think we're talking about the style of bass playing rather than the actual sound. There's a world of difference in the style between, say Ray Brown and Jaco. We have a lot of different drum styles, why not bass styles? Later, Ray

Although I can play bass, I would definitely appreciate RealBass. We already have RealGuitar and most folk / country / rock bands consist of drums, guitar and bass. With my setup, I play guitar and sing, my gf plays keys, I have arrangements produced in BIAB and mixed in PTPA and use backing tracks created in this way. RealDrums is great, RealBass would be an added bonus.

Of course, I'm not a jazz musician but then many others aren't either

Just an example of why it's a good idea to read back through the wishlists. As I write, a nearly identical request is just two listings ahead, and there is a similar request in the "Styles" wishlist.

. . . But I'll second it here, too.

I was so disappointed by the lack of Real Bass that I didn't upgrade this year. In the past I upgraded every year as soon as it came out. Now I'm hoping we'll get a 2008.5 with Real Bass.

We added RealBass in the 2008.5 upgrade,
There are 8 RealBass
JazzSwing (2) - "Paul" and "Ray"
Country (2)
Metal (3)
Blues (1)
These are all in the plusPAK ($59)
Demos here...
http://www.pgmusic.com/ubbthreads/showfl...e=0&fpart=1
There are 44 new RealTracks for Band-in-a-Box
==================================================
If you have Band-in-a-Box 2008 for Windows already, you can either;

1. Get the free upgrade to 2008.5 from the support page http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm#259
This has the upgrade with 30 new features, but not the new RealTracks.
- or -
2. "PLUS PAK with 2008->2008.5 upgrade and all 44 new RealTracks for $59" ....Get the upgrade and the 44 new Real Tracks Instruments (RealSets 2-9) for $59 here
Go this page http://www.pgmusic.com/bandbox.htm and then click on the button called "$59 PLUS Pak" that is at the far right of the screen, middle way down the page.
(Note: the PlusPak requires version 2008 or higher)

Have Fun!

Who is 'Paul' on Bass? I assume that 'Ray' is Ray Brown.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
