Hey, new to BiaB and its so amazing and big. I got one question, i need alot of progressions each in different styles and mostly all keys. Is it somehow possible to export a progression in C in all other keys? Even with different styles? Well, i guess its not possible because the tracks need to be 'reloaded' each time i switch the key manually, but maybe theres a script or somehting doing that automatically? Would be so great and save me big time. Hopes...
This might do the job. Because I haven't used it, though, I cannot guarantee it.
1. Enter your chord progression.
2. Set your song to multiple choruses (say 12). This is done by clicking on the number shown in the upper image below.
3. Enter into "Options | Preferences".
4. Click on the "Transpose" button (#2 on the lower of the two images below).
5. Set the "Each chorus.... transpose by" option to 1 (this is #3 on the lower image).
6. Ok your way out of the windows.
7. Generate your song. Let it play for a dozen bars or so to ensure that the generation is complete since much of the song generation is done as background processing after the song starts playing.
8. Save or Render the audio to a WAV or WMA file. While saving as MP3 is also an option, whether it works or not on your system will depend on what audio codecs you have loaded. WAV and WMA will work.
9. The 'Help' button (#4) will provide some useful insights so it is worth clicking on and having a read of what pops up.
Hi Noel, first off all thanks alot for your detailed help!
I went through all your steps. BiaB creates the song playing it till the end of the first chorus where it starts to stutter. The sound breaks and after that it seems to create the audio for the next key but just skip it(the chorus doesnt play). Then it starts to skip more keys at once, its just chaos unitl it reaches the first key after 12 chorus. I hit play after creation phase but it recreates all keys again and it looks confusing the same as the first time. Exporting to wav ends in a file playing all 12 chorus in the first key. I tried it in several different styles, 4 measures each with just a plain C-chord. Any ideas what to do?
I just tried it out and something strange is definitely happening.
In case someone else wants to test run what I did, and in case they have other suggestions, below is my plan of attack...
1. I created a new 8 bar song and entered a basic chord progression. I set the key to C, the tempo to 100 and selected a suitable style (I tried both an entirely MIDI style as well as a Realstyle).
2. Next I right-clicked on the chord sheet, selected "Song Settings" and disabled fast generation so that I could see what was happening.
3. I set the transpose settings as suggested in my above reply to your initial question and I generated the song.
The song played the first chorus.
It stopped midway through the last bar of the first chorus to generate the second chorus.
When I used the Realstyle, after generating the second chorus, the chords immediately changed and BIAB then generated the third chorus, then the fourth, etc..... it wasn't until it reached chorus 9 (the key was now Ab) that it actually played.
The all-MIDI style still hesitated when moving from chorus to chorus but it did behave a little better than the Realstyle and didn't skip playing choruses 2 - 8.
I've reported this behaviour and referenced this thread to the Support team.
I don't have any other suggestions at the moment. If I think of something, I will let you know.
Hey guys, are there any good news about the export to audio problem/bug? I tried it again the way Noel described it but still the programm starts to stutter very soon and the export audio doesnt work .
Well, besides that theres another one regarding exporting to audio. I did setup an 8 bars 'song' with no repeats(chorus), one chord( C ) and a simple melody line ranging only from bar 3-4.
In song settings i deactivated 'Generate 2 bar ending for this song'. Now when i export it to whatever audio format(WAV, wma..) BiaB puts just about 20-25 seconds silence at the end of the audio file. Do i miss any preference options that put those seconds at the end of the musical phase?
I`m asking for that because i would like to setup a lot of 8 bars tracks with easy melody lines to be practised with by my students in a random shuffle audio player.
Hi Chris. I just came across your issue this morning. I don't recall the earlier thread back in August. I'll explain how I understand your problem exporting and what I did to accomplish my export as I understand what you're attempting.

I interpret this to mean a different progression in a different style done once in each key. ie: c,f,g in style A ; d,e,a in Style B and so on for each key.

I was able to quickly accomplish both by doing the following:
I created an 8 bar song in each key for my test.
I generated each 8 bar 'song' and exported each as an individual WAV file to my desktop using the naming as c.wav, d.wav, e.wav and so on for all the keys changing the chord progression as you outlined.
I opened RealBand and imported each file in order placing each subsequent file at the beginning of the last bar of the prior wav file. For example: c.wav placed at bat one and ends at bar 8. D.wav placed at bar 9 and ends at bar 16 and so on.
I imported each 'song' onto the same track in RealBand. I used Track One.
Once I had completed importing all the songs, I selected the entire track and from the Edit/Track menu, I consolidated all of the 'songs' on Track One into a single continuous track and rendered the audio as a stereo wav file.
I used RealBand but this will work with any DAW or audio program including one such as Audacity. It can be done in BIAB as well but that procedure is a lot more cumbersome with many more steps and it is not done in a manner that you visually see where you are in the track as you do with a DAW. I recommend using a DAW.
Because you will be exporting each individual song with this method, the number of bars, chord progression, key or style doesn't matter.
But for instance, you want to generate the same chord progression for all 12 keys, a quick way to generate the same progression over every key is to enter the chord progression in the Nashville Numbering System from the chord display menu.
C,F,G would be a 1,4,5
Select the key signature, generate the chord chart and export. Select the next key signature, generate the chord chart and export and so on for each key.
BIAB will generate the chord chart based on the key signature and the numbers and will generate correctly. Once done, import the individual songs into RealBand as described above. You can also change the style if you desire between each export.
I first tried to enter a chord progression normally and after 8 bars enter the next key up but began to have issues with the proper chord voicing. Once I switched to the Nashville numbers, it worked flawlessly.
