New Song: Green Sanctuary (Classical and Orchestral)

This is my new song which is a classical and orchestral work. This time, I gave the wind instruments (flute, clarinet, oboe and horn) the major role in playing the melodies. The strings are at their back except at the last part. I believe this gave the song different atmosphere from other works of mine.

As usual, the title of the song, Green Sanctuary, came from my wife. I myself am not confident about it, but from my experience, she is always right.

I spent considerable time for the fine tuning of the song, and I can say I am satisfied with the result.

This song is a small piece whose duration is just 3m21s. I sincerely hope that as many members would kindly listen to it and hopefully give me their feedback.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tune smile It has a beautiful, and almost haunting quality to it. I could imagine hearing it in a film. It certainly has a cinematic feel to it.

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful piece of music. The flute was so pretty. I started playing music on the flute at 10 years old. Has such a wonderful tone to it

That is a lovely and lovingly crafted song.

All of the time that you put into this production resulted in a song that could easily, as Deryk said be heard in film.

The wind instruments are outstanding.

Congratulations on an amazingly lush sound with the mix.

Sensuously beautiful.

The calming reflective mood that you have created is quite extraordinary.

This is a really beautiful musical 'work of art'

Hi Deryk,

Thank you for your comment. I am very happy to know my new song met your expectation.

This time, I arranged the song in such a way that one could imagine some story. I think, in my wife's case, it was something related to the green sanctuary smile

Scott,

Thank you for your comment. I am glad to know you were a young flutist and you like the flute sound (RGC Flute In The Venue) I used for the song. I also like it very much, so I used it for most of my works.

J&B,

Thank you for your comment. I am pleased to know my fine tuning work was worth doing.

I am also glad to know you like the wind instruments used for the song. It was one of the key points to me.

Always such serene and lovely music, HiroshiK! They always make me feel so nostalgic. I'm getting a kind of Golden Sun vibe from this one (one of my all-time favourite games!). As always, a fantastic job.

Thanks for the share!

Hi Ember,

Thank you for your comment. I am very glad you like my new song this time as well. It is a pity that I cannot share your feeling about it well with you because I am a person who has no knowledge about the Games. I therefore studied Golden Sun a bit by Youtube and have found a lot of vibes there smile

Hi Hiroshi,

Yours is always some of the prettiest music on the forum. This is further proof of that. Very beautiful. It's not easy to make a powerful song sound so luxurious. This has a gentle strength that holds everything together. Wonderful blend and balance of power and fragility.

Gorgeous!

Alan

Dear "HiroshiK"...

"Green Sanctuary" is stunning music-making! Please allow me to offer my first, urgent impressions of it, to you: stately, mournful, medieval, regal, dramatic, tragic, expressive...I could go on and on.

You needn't have worried about the brief playback time of "Green Sanctuary". It only proves that a musician who knows how to orchestrate his/her music can suspend the listener's interest indefinitely through his/her choice of instruments, their articulation and timbre, control of tempo, and more. It was very, very easy for me to imagine you conducting this composition with a "live" orchestra, your baton moving in the air with purpose and passion, so well-paced and revealing of emotion the music was.

I try hard not to compare the original musical compositions I listen to on the "User's Forum" with other compositions of known and established composers, but when I do I hope it will be accepted as a compliment: "Green Sanctuary" reminds me in the most moving way of the work of the renowned, late film score composer, George Delerue. Your melody is loaded with emotion, and the way you develop it is very suggestive of Mr. Delerue's technique.

I bow to your gifts as a composer and orchestrator, sir. "Green Sanctuary" is affecting and memorable. I feel blessed to have listened to it.

Most sincerely,

LOREN

P.S. I am also greatly impressed and humbled by the way you credit your wife's talent as an interpreter of your own musical gifts. It's an honorable and loving thing to do.

Dear LOREN,

Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful comment. I am impressed by your deep insight about the music and am grateful to you for sharing your impressions and consideration about my song. I was also encouraged a lot by them. I shared your comment with my wife. She was also impressed and pleased.

First of all, I was overwhelmed by this rich use of the adjective words. It is definitely something that is very hard for the non-English-speaking like me to do smile My song comprises three parts; the first part accompanied by the HARP arpeggio, the second accompanied by the STRINGS pizzicato, and the third or the last with melodies played by the STRINGS. I think each of them has different atmosphere and gives the listeners different impressions. I understand this is why very inconsistent words are listed to express impressions for a song.

I am the person who is far away from the movies especially from the French films, so frankly I did not know Georges Delerue. I am enjoying now the Youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd8XNTGWs9E) titled "Georges Delerue - Music for Films". It is clear to me that I am not comparable with him at all, and it is a great honor to me that you compare my song with his.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
